Hi - would really appreciate some help on this subject. I have been having a few problems with using my MIDI conrols on my keyboard to control the mixer of the 16 MIDI channels routed to Bandstand in my sequencer program - Cubase 4.

Some of the time everything works fine and my MIDI controls work as progammed in the host seqencer mixer which in turn controls the mixer in bandstand. This doesn't normally last however and after I have opened the plugin a few times from within the sequencer, bandstand seems to interfere with Cubase and my controller stops talking to the Cubase mixer, and bandstand will listen to the control messages directly and (randomly) change parameters according to it's own GM mapping.

Any suggestions how I might overcome this?

Sorry, I can't think what the problem is. I use Bandstand plugged into Sonar and when I change the volume, chorus, reverb sliders on tracks in Sonar, Bandstand responds accordingly. BTW, what do you mean when you say 'a few times'? I only need one instance of Bandstand opened at any one time.

Perhaps Markus, Bandstand Product Manager, will chime in soon with some suggestions, he's a frequent poster.

By a "few times" I meant opening and closing the VST window - I only have one instance of BS open at any time. After more tweaking this evening it seems that the problem is simply that both Bandstand and my Sequencer are listening to the controller at the same time. So I can be adjusting the pan in my mixer throught the sequencer but Bandstand will adjust the chorus at same time. As you can imagine this makes tweaking nion impossible using a controller!

I hope there is a relatively streight forward fix for this - this raises a lot of issues

    Hi sifisher,

my only guess is that maybe the controls are sent back to Cubase from Bandstand? can you maybe disable MIDI in Cubase for the Bandstand tracks?

    thanks,
    Markus

Thanks for the reply Markus, I've overcome the problem now. I think it was just that some of the contollers I used to control the mixer in Cubase were assigned to CC numbers and channels that controlled different levels perameters in Bandstand. Cubase was getting confused. I fixed this by reassigning different CC numbers to the mixer controls in Cubase and applying MIDI filters to stop certain MIDI data being sent to Bandstand. Bit of a hassle though! There should be a way of stopping BS from recieving any MIDI external to the track routed to it.
