What are your recommendations on MIDI controller to compliment X1? I plan on using X1 for browsing and loading and FX and Loops, and need one more controller that allows me to control:

    1. Volume
    2. Faders
    3. Hi/Low/Mid
    4. Hi/Low/Mid kills.

Something that feels like quality and not too big (X1 size or smaller).

    Thanks

i guess the cheaper options would include an x-session pro (maudio) or a novation nocturn.

i have the xsession pro and ive got a kontrol x1 on order. i'm a torq user right now but i've ordered the tpro upgrade so i plan on switching as soon as my x1 and upgrade arrive :D

the xsession pro is strictly a midi controller - looks like a mixer. 12 knobs, 4 faders, a cross fader and a total of 10 midi buttons. i'm sure you've seen it before. its not super heavy duty build - quite the opposite but it'll do the job.

or go teh expensive route with some expensive midi capable mixer - pioneer, ecler, etc.

    anyway good luck

RMX?... im actually enjoying the hot cue feature about a few minutes ago. Also the RMX has a built in soundcard, not that great but it'll do...

Which one of them comes out of the box ready for Traktor Scratch Pro so I don't have to fiddle with MIDI mappings myself? I basically need transport section + equivalizer + volume control. I got Traktor X1 for effects etc already. Faderfox looks a bit flimzy..

    How about an Akai LPD8?

    8 Pads
    8 Knobs
    4 Programs

Program 1: EQ (use the knobs as Hi/Low/Mid/Filter, use the pads as kills)
    Program 2: Volume/Faders (knobs)

PS - Aesthetics: the orange glow of the pads on the Akai LPD8 are identical to the X1.

Hey Empolo how easy was the mapping? Ideally I would like "out of the box" mapping, or at least not spend days mapping it myself. I never use cross faders,I guess I could use the knobs for the channel faders?

Considering Xone 1D only concern is 1. too big 2. see above (mappings)

Xone 92 is the sweets thing, but damn 1400 on amazon!

I am glad they got X1 to control basic Traktor functions like loading decks loops and effects, but you def need something else.

I am starting to think maybe I can just get a regular mixer maybe one of the earlier Pioneer models..

I've got a Vestax VCI-100, it was great to get started but I'm looking for something with 4 channels and 4 jogs wheels to use with the K1(s), any suggestions?

TDJstx , just curios why do you need to contorol 4 decks at once? You could switch between A-B and C-D I think.

I have 2 X-Session Pro's. They work quite well for 4 decks. These can be had for quite cheap. $99 regular price but I got mine off woot for $59.. (they appear there every now and then)

You could also consider that Stanton SCS.1m which has a 24/96 sound card built in. Its also firewire which could solve (some peoples) issues of not enough usb ports. ($599 street price)

this is American Audio VMX4, I got my eye out on it after reading about it. But hard to find the price yet (600-700 my guess).

    Also RMX looking pretty good.
