"i had posted this on an older forum but i think this is the most appropiate"

Hi guys, it has been a while.

Well. here is what has happened so far.
I jumped into traktor pro, after my free upgrade. of course, found out i had to redo my midi programming. it took me a while to understand the routing. but i think i got it to work more or less how i had configured it on 3.4

Ok, so here is my summary of the config.

two cdjs-100 going into CH 1 and 4
midi on for ch 2 and 3
sample channel and mic ON for MIDI
i have mapped the fx on ch 2 and 3, for the knobs and, there is also part of it on the microphone knobs. on the sample area, i have the browse tree folders, change the focus on the decks, sync buttons for deck A and B, as well as the load buttons. and i have the loops set up as well. on the sample area.

it works, but sometimes i would like a more organized structure.

    so here are my questions:

    1. has anybody used the herc mk2 as an additional midi controller with the ddm4000? (that way i can control the jogs for deck C and D, or A and B and not use the CDJ-100)
    2. has anybody experienced a problem when you set the loop on, and you have selected your amount of beats for the loop, than when you turn it off. you cant control the sound with your TCCD? i have to load the track again, for the TCCD to work.
    3. has anybody used the xone1D with the ddm4000? how did you configured it. i have been pondering at the idea of maybe ditching my cdj-100 and get two xone1D. Or maybe the new stantons sc3d? has anybody used those?
    3. on TCCD mode, how can i get traktor to use the cue button of the CDJ, meaning, you know how you cue the song. and you use it to play the song from that cue point when you about to use it. i only use the jogs on the CDJ to control speed, as well as the pitch fader, but i would love to use it more as the regular cdj, but on traktor of course.

Thank you guys for all of your help before.

    cheers,

2 1D's and a 4 channel mixer and your off to the races. Oh, you're gonna need a soundcard, but since you're using CDJ's, I assumed u had an audio8.

I truly love this setup. I bought the full TSP package, expecting to remain true to my tech12's and vinyl control, but after a week with the software this paradigm made absolutely no sense anymore.

I'd say this is way more efficient and more highly functional and customizable for different situations.

Oh yeah, depensing on the value of your CDJ's you may wind up with a grand or more in your pocket... if that's the sort of thing that appeals to you.

Well. i bought the traktor scratch pro, so i have the audio 8 dj, so i use the cdj with the tccd, but as i said i was thinking on getting the x1d since they have jogs, and more faders and knobs, i can config them as pitch faders, and cue, loop, hot cues and everything else.

but the questions is how to config two midi devices, also, i have the herc mk2 as i mentioned above. so i was thinking of maybe configuring that?

    thanks for your answer

put them on different midi channels. the x1d can be set up on any channel 1-16. I dunno about the herc, but there should be no problem if its stuck on one midi channel or something (bot, that would be a stupid element of the design), as you can hook up 15 x1d's on the other 15 available channels. easy as pie.

ok, that about the midi channels i had no idea. so pretty much, any midi device, gets a channel 1-16. the herc has only a usb port. so it would not be daisy chainned thru the ddm4000, will the x1d be connected thru their usb ports? or thru the midi connectors being connected daisy chainned?

    thank you,

It might work either way, but your laptop may or may not have the ability to power more than one controller and your audio 8. Specifically, Macbooks have this problem.

With my macbook I have my Audio8 connected to one USB port and one of my 1D's connected to the other. My second 1D is connected to my Audio * with a midi cable and powered by a powered USB hub.

I need to add an external HDD to my setup and I don't want to spend the extra money on a firewire enclosure for it, so I am going to test my setup with only the Audio 8 connected to USB, with both my controllers daisy chained via Midi thru the A8 and powered by the hub. I'll let you know if it works. Can't think of a reason why it wouldn't.

I see from your profile that you're on a macbook... so you're going to have to use this workaround to add a second midi controller.

Yes, i am aware of the macbook usb power issue, so i have also a powered 4 port usb hub.

if i understand this right, i will daisy chain the 2 x1d's , but i will power them with the usb hub. will the computer recognize the x1d if they are only midi chained? i mean, i will power them with the usb hub, but the hub wont be connected to the laptop unless i needed to.

let me know how it works.

    thank you,

correct. you will be chaining the midi through the two devives and into the Audio8. Traktor will recognize them as long as they are set to seperate midi channels. The USB hub will be used only for power.

This configuration will leave you a USB port for something else.

I am 99% sure that this config will work. I'll test tomorrow to be sure.
