I looking for a good controller to use with AKP. Any suggestions?! I'd like to have something with weighted keys. What are people using these days?

    Hi

Ok, i don't even have the Akoustik Piano yet... I'm considering adding it to my studio, and have come here to learn more about it. What I've been using, and largely love, is the GeneralMusic Promega 3. it's an incredible instrument.. but that's another story.

Recently I went to visit a friend out of state in order to set up a personal studio for him. Because of my experience with Fatar controllers, I recommended that he try the newest Fatar (StudioLogic) VMK 188 controller. Well, we bought one for him and I had about 3 weeks to try it out.

My opinion... This is the best feeling/playing controller for grand piano to date. There are a couple of things I didn't like.. one is that it doesn't have it's own velocity curve controls. Also, unbelievably, there is no layering possible since there are no zones or splits available. Still, when using the instrument with virtual instruments on the computer, this isn't really an issue.

In short I loved it. It also has aftertouch which I lack on my present instrument.

You may want to check one out if you can find one. Online, Music123.com has them I think.

    Best Regards,

    Stefan Garr
