    Hi!

I have 10 buttons in the pannel of my program that I want to manipulate with a foot controller.

Any sugestion about a cheap product that I can use as a MIDI controller, or a good explanation on how to build one.

I only need 10 buttons that could send on/off values to Reaktor to substitute the buttons in the panel that I'm working with now...

    Thanks

    Leo

I'm planning to build a foot controller using a MIDI keyboard. When you open a keyboard, you'll see that each note is in fact a switch that goes to two points on a circuit board. If you solder wires to the circuit board that go to the two poles of a switch from the points where the switch of the key is connected, you can use the switch to trigger notes.
You could also put the board in a box, drill holes in it, put minijack slots in them on one side, connect the wires to the poles of the slots.
Take another box, put switches where you'd like to have them and connect them to minijack slots.
In this way, you can route any switch to any MIDI note you want.

Advantage: if you take the time to look at the circuit board for more than 10 minutes, it's really easy to do.
Disadvantage: you can only send On/Off messages, no changing values. Also, you can lose overview of what is going where quickly if you have 30+ cables going in.

If you want to send changing values on a custom interface, maybe check this out:

I've done an installation where people where touching objects in a box, where the objects were connected to switches and triggered samples to tell some kind of fairy tale with creepy and far-out sounds through the headphones they were wearing while they were blindfolded. One of the better things i've done :)
I also ordered one of the MIDIsense kits, but haven't wired it together yet.

    Anyway, good luck!
