    might have, but are you going to route the audio back through the mixer from your interface or just use the mixer as a full midi controller and forget about the fx on the mixer?

    I was thinking DJM800 have 4 channels. I use 2 channel internal playing and effect control from 800 and the other 2 using CDJ1000 with time code cds.

    Well i do have an idea designed for that, however im not sure how good the buttons are on the DJM800 as triggers. Simply because ive tried it before with Torq, and say to activate a loop in torq you press the 'Cue' button once, then to deactivate it you have to press the same button twice again. I dont think Pioneer have thought that part through with the midi.

    Its like the buttons are toggle buttons which send toggle messages which you dont want.

    You're right, same problem goes for DJM 800. Pioneers Cue button is not really suited for triggering loops. The DJM 800 lacks good push buttons for cueing/looping which is a bit frustrating.

    Still, it should be possible to make a decent external play midi template so that you could instantly hook your Traktor Pro set to the DJM 800 that can be found in your average club without the need to bring in your own controller. As the DJM 800 is the most popular clubmixer in the world nowadays I'm still wondering why NI didnit provide any template for it at the first place.

    Currently, I'm working on a Scratch Pro template for the DJM 800 but frankly, the midi modifier options got me dazzled. I would like to have a non-Scratch template as well.

    Well ive got a couple of diagrams of ideas of mappings but havent got round to mapping them yet as like you say im not sure how good the buttons would work etc. I can do the modifiers but wont know what to modify until i start the mapping iv designed. Plus i dont own a DJM800 only my mate does and i simply cant pop round to give it a try.

    I don't know how much I'd want a fully mapped 800.

    I had a 1/2 hour to kill after I setup my rig and before I played a couple weeks ago, so I went through and mapped some things.

    First off, I was using TS (I know...this is the TPro subforum...but this info still applies). I do use all 4 channels, as the guy I DJ with plays some cd's still. On the 800 1/4 are cd's, 2/3 are TS.

    I used to have the Fader Start buttons set to drop a cue and play a cue for each channel. Fader Start 2/3 drop cue, Fader Start 1/4 for Play. I changed those to launch cue points 1-4 for the highlighted deck. Then I set all the knobs on 1/4 for each of the effect knobs (Gain, High, Mid, Low). I used the Color Effects knob as an Effect Select, and the Cue button for on/off.

    So, everything's good to go...right? I don't use a monitor when I DJ...I mix in my headphones...so when I wanted to use an effect, I would hit the cue button on one of the channels (to turn the effect on).

    Oopsie...

    I hope nobody has to hear that timecode off the cd's blasting in your ears! MAN did that catch me by surprise! lol

    Also, the Fader Start buttons aren't good for launching a cue point...you have to push it twice every time you want to re-launch it. Nevermind the fact that I don't know how many times I had the wrong deck selected (cause I wasn't thinking)!

    I need to just start taking my VCI-100 out with me lol

    Exactly my point, Pioneer havent thought the whole Midi controllability out at all! It pretty much renders the DJM800 useless for Midi Controlling

    I found one button on the djm 800 usefull for triggering loops/cues: the tap button. Being the only trigger button available you would probably use it with midi modifiers.

    StevenJames, would you mind sharing some diagrams for inspiration?

    any luck with that midi mapping for the DJM 800? I didn't think it was possible with the button types.

    thanks

    i've an idea....

    i want to make setting like this:
    CH1 & CH4 = input Channel (from CDJ/A8DJ)
    CH2 & CH3 = Midi Controller

    what if we use CH 3&4's...
    cue button = FX triger (on/off)...
    EQ (hi,mid,lo) = FX parameter
    Fader = CUE/PLAY trigger....

    can we make the fader act like cue/play trigger?
    up = play
    down = cue

    so if wee slide the fader up... it will play the track...
    and if we slide it down, it stop the deck n return to cue possition...

    can we made it?
