to cut a long story short i'm trying to incorporate hardware into my set up. kinda like a hybrid hardware/software setup i guess.

it will mainly consist of a TR-909 & a couple of hardware synths but also maschine for additional drums & maybe a VSTi or so.

the hardware & the soundcard outputs from maschine will all be routed into a small analogue desk.

i've tried lots of different permutations: using using maschine inside ableton as master (feeding the hardware in via my soundcard's inputs), abelton as slave from the 909, din sync from abelton to the 909. but in all cases sloppy timing ensues. (mostly the 909's fault)

so far the most stable set up is the 909 as master & maschine receiving midi clock as slave in standalone mode.

so my question is… is it possible to merge midi into maschine's midi in port (using an external box)?

that is, simultaneously receive external midi clock from the 909 as well as using my novation remote for playing VSTi's inside maschine, as well as using Midi OUT mode inside maschine to record & playback midi sequences - sending that data from maschine's Midi Out port to trigger external hardware synths?

for some reason if i try & use my novation remote as a midi thru from the 909 to maschine standalone, maschine's synced midi clock BPM is twice that of the 909.

any input would be much appreciated! cheers!

This sounds like you may be sending two copies of the midi clock to maschine.

As far as your question about using a midi merge box, that should work just fine. MIDI Solutions makes a very good two port one.
