HI, I am Colin and I am new to the DJ scene. I have Traktor and like it except I really need a controller mixer for it. I have searched alot and found several that would work but dont totally meet my needs. So If you guys could point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

First I only have about 500 bucks to spend for sound card and a controller/mixer

I would like to be able to physically output 2 seperate signals to a midi mixer like the higher priced pioneer and ecler mixer but those are to pricey.

If I cant do that I would like a controller similar to the kontrol dj or like that feena controller posted in the mac section. However, jog wheels wouldbe nice to find cue points etc. and I like how that has 4 faders built in. Can I get the feena controller then buy 2 griffin technology jog wheels and link them to tractor? Cause that would work pretty well in my mind, since the feena controller is awesome but it doesnt have jog wheels. Also, later on down the road could I link the controller to a VJ program to mimic my Dj moves and what not?

Also, I really would like to add a drum beat pad down the line so I could use that while crossfading to add my own beats. I was wondering is there a way to have that as a source and have it crossfade out with another source?

Example Source A is playing, then i start to add drum sounds(we will call this source B), Start to crossfade both A&B with source C, both A&B fade out at the same time while C is it full power.

I know that these are alot of questions but I have spent alot of time searching and trying to figure it out. Your help would be greatlly appreciated.

bumping this because i also want to know if the griffin jog wheels would work with traktor. i don't see it saying anywhere that it can send midi data, but does anyone know if there could be a workaround? here's a link to the jog wheels:
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powermate/

i found this old thread with some info on it being used in traktor: http://www.native-instruments.com/forum_us/showthread.php?t=19398

edit: found some more threads by searching for 'powermate' in these forums. some people have used it to control the crossfader and pitch but it seems like they mapped it to keyboard hotkeys. any thoughts on if it could work to scroll through/scratch the decks?

    yep, i'm one of them.
and right, the powermate just generates keystrokes.
try what you want to do with the keyboard. with the powermate it will be the same (except the better feeling).

    regards

That Griffin looks like my 3dconnexion controller - which happens to be spring loaded. In that respect, I dont believe it will be of much control over jogging. Seems like you want something that will spins freely.

The powermate is an endless rotary encoder, it doesn't return to a "zero" state.

But you would still have to convert the data it sends (like a keypress) into data Traktor would understand. Maybe the Powermate driver plus MIDI Translator.

Go for it ;) It works well... you can scratch / mix and right now they're making an update to control 4 decks independantly with the switch....

Ah and the support is great... I cant fault a thing with the service

The only thing i'd say is that it cost a lot, I ended up selling my car for one :( but have never looked back :D very happy me...
