    Hi all

I am hoping that someone can help me as I am having huge problems recieving Midi signals from Reaktor into cubase 4. I also tried Ableton and the problem is there too.

The signals from reaktor are so out of sync, theres a huge latency into both programs. The delay is only when midi signals are sent from reaktor to cubase, everthings fine the other way, and audio signals are also fine from reaktor. Ive tried all the different options and settings in both programs but i cant seem to fix the problem.

Ive been through most of the forums looking for similar problems and a few people have posted similar probs, but i can still find no answer

Its possible im overlooking something as i dont have a great deal of experiance using midi across different programs and setting latency etc

if someone could help me id be very greatful

    thanks, claire

hi claire, welcome to the Forum :)

the problem is that programmes such as Live have a built-in compensation mechanism to make sure different MIDI Plugins playback when MIDI is sent form Live to a Plugin. unfortunately this does not seem to work the other way around. what i have noticed is that when Reaktor is sending MIDI to another MIDI track in Live (or Logic) it seems to be early, i.e. before the beat.

some people use Bidule (google Bidule, you will find a link) and say that this seems to cure the problem. if you want to use a Reaktor Sequencer that is transmitting MIDI, i would record it and quantize/edit the recording so as to correct the timing.

another way is to use Reaktor in standalone mode to send a MIDI to Live and use Live's preferences to set up a time compensation. you will probably find you need a negative setting.

thanks for your help, thats cleared things up for me. looked into bidule, nut i dont think im prepared to pay for more software just yet, maybe one fo the future.

its a shame you cant sync midi from reaktor. I was planning to use reaktors more inspiring sequencing environment to control battery inside cubase to add parts to existing audio tracks. i suppose it would be possible to use reaktor and battery as long as i dont bounce any audio down.

thanks agian for your help and swift reply

try my suggestion of Recording the MIDI from Reaktor and then quantizing an editing it in Cubase. then you will be able to use that MIDI track to trigger Battery.

fwiw, i have used Zarby Drummer to trigger Battery in Kore2 (inside Logic) and it works very nicely... but then again that means buying more software :|

another solution would be a Reaktor Drum Sampler (such as Memory Drum) driven by Zarby Drummer (in the same Ensemble). but if your Battery Sample Map is really complex, then it would be a lot of work to load the samples and map them in Memory Drum  however, if you are only using 6 samples (or there abouts), maybe it is worth considering?

btw, Redrum in the User Library is a nice Drum Sequencer.

    Hey Sowari,

you have used Zarby Drummer in Logic? How do you set it up? I am kind of lost sending midi from Reaktor into another plugin.

    thanx

i have only used Zarby in Kore2.

you could try using Reaktor Standalone and use the Mac's IAC Driver to send MIDI from Reaktor to Logic.
