Mikro Mk2 No Pad Page; New Controller Reference Manuals for Ableton Template 9.1.X?

    Hi All.

I'm using the Mikro MK2 script in ableton, which works (near) completely for my Mikro Mk1.

I tried using the old template controller reference .pdf to relearn the template, but things are wacky and near completely different. To start, there is no "Pads" page, the one where it listed Octave/Scales/Root-note. NI, can we get a new set of Controller Reference .pdfs?

Will someone please explain to me how to change scales on Mikro (mk1 or mk2) in this Live 9 V2 template?

I looked through the controller editor pages for a "Pads" page like before, where it listed Octave/Scales/Root.
No such page exists according to my searches on the hardware, or on the controller editor template.
The yellow info text at the bottom of live lists "chromatic" when I change octaves, so I know those scales are in here somewhere.

My Mikro has become mostly a set of midi-pads for me to bang on, and the scale and root note adjustments were the delicious icing on the awesome cupcake of responsive midi-pads. It's a huge improvement to my creativity.

May I please have my finished and decorated cupcake of a pad controller? How do I change scales and root notes?

PS thanks NI for getting these templates up and working again. Seriously appreciate it.

Hey man! May I know how did you get these templates working again?

I have the same situation! Thanks!

    If I remember correctly...

    • Download NI Uninstaller Utility
    • Uninstall Controller Editor only
    • Go to NI website
    • Download Controller Editor 1.6.3 from the website (not from service center, resist temptation)
    • Install Controller Editor
    • Go to HD/Applications/Native_Instruments/Controller_Editor/Template_Support_Files/Ableton_Live_9/
    • -Copy all four folders (screw it, no harm from extras. Or just the one you need. If you have mikro mk1, you have to use mikro mk2 btw)
    • Now that those folders are copied, paste them into HD/Applications/Ableton_whatever/Contents/App-Resources/Midi_Remote_Scripts/
    • Note that in the last step you have to right click on Ableton icon and click "show package contents" in OSX
    • Open Controller Editor
    • Select your controller from top left corner
    • Make sure your controller is plugged in
    • On the right side, click "edit" then "new"
    • Delete all the other templates in that grey box above "edit" and "factory templates"
    • Now, there should only be "Template 1" (or whatever number) up there.
    • Cool, click factory Templates, then Ableton Live 9
    • It should show up in that grey box below "Template 1" as "Ableton Live 9 V2" (if it doesn't, abandon hope till someone smarter comes along) The controller Editor I downloaded from service center would only give me "ableton live 9" not "ableton live 9 v2". This workaround solved my problems.
    • Open ableton
    • go to preferences in ableton
    • go to midi
    • select the correct Maschine controller (whichever you have) as a control surface
    • for me and my mikro Mk1, I had to use mikro mk2. Works for both. woohoo.
    • for the mikro, I only have 1 set of inputs possible. Maschine or Studio have more. They have both physical and virtual ports.
    • If you have Maschine or Studio or Maschine Mk2, select the virtual ports for both input and output.
    • Have a shitload of fun.

Also, unlike the older template the octave/scale/root note functions are hidden. You must use the selector knob: twisting it changes octave, push in and twist is either root note or scale, and shift button with twist is either root note or scale. Note that you have to be on certain pages for those functions to be available; just click through those pages until you find that the knob is controlling the octave and not navigation.

    cheers

I spent weeks a few months ago trying to find the Octave/Scale/Root Note functions. I pressed the knob in by accident and scrolled through different modes. But I quickly forgot what I did and kept changing the Octave. Thank you so much. This was very helpful!
