Hey guys, so I've read about this DRM protected, file missing threads in here and still can't figure it out. When I download an mp3 and just leave it as is, the file will play in my Traktor scratch pro. But, the second I edit the mp3, it will not play the mp3 and it will give me the error of the file is corrupt, missing, or DRM protected.

Does anyone have a solution about that?

I've also noticed that every mp3 that I play in scratch pro, it ends up deleting my key information in my database. I've changed all my files to read only, but after every file I play I get the stupid error message that traktor was unable to write tag.

Is changing the files to read only the best solution for this?

    PLEASE HELP!

Get used to it i'm afraid. Traktor is very tetchy with mp3 tags. If another program has edited them - it wont read the file, if you edit them with traktor, it looses its stripe.

I spent a week on the email with support, the only way to get them playable again i've found it to use mp3val (search for it), which seems to clean them up in a way traktor likes.

DO you mean editing the file name or editing the song? I just downloaded a bunch of tracks and all i did was change the file names. I spun for a good hour and played all of them, but all of a sudden I go back to spin again after only an hour and all my recent downloads dont play.

When I edit the file name. For instance if I want to add the key in the information. If I don't edit the mp3 name it plays in Traktor, but once I go into the mp3 tags and edit something, the file for some reason doesn't play.

And..... let's say I don't change my mp3's to read only, then every mp3 file that I added fields like the Key gets erased once played on Traktor.

    Just a suggestion: consistency check.

sry, no copy pics of the manual allowed...

I use iTunes to organize my music. If I make any changes I get the same issue. You will have to relocate the track by right clicking on it and selecting locate track. As for the key... I use mixmeister to get the key. Once I load a song in a deck it displays the key automatically.

If you change the Artist or Name tags this breaks the Traktor path to that file.
You must relocate the file using the Relocate funtion in the Browser or in Consistency Checker.

    All in the manual ;-)

I am not going to start a new thread because my problem is similar to this, however, I am NOT manually editing any of my MP3s.

I will DL tunes from beatport of DNBA, play them is Tr Pro, close it and come back for the next session and SOME not all of my tunes return an error message when I drop them into the deck.

"WARNING: XXX-XXX.MP3 could NOT be played due to missing or corrupt file, unsupported format or DRM protection."

    OK...

-I never changed the file path, they are not missing.
-None of my Dj mp3s are DRM protected.
-They are not an unsupported format

The corrupt file is interesting. I normally correct this issue by replacing the file with the original. The files are always a few kbs off. Is T Pro corrupting the files?

I have one file that was fine and now T pro only reads the last half second of it and it put in all the loop points.

Please help! If this ever happens before a gig I will explode with anger.

    Welcome To The Forum

Have you tried a Consistency Check?
Click on the Track Collection and chose 'Consistency Check' this will show if tracks are missing or need analysing.

You may not have moved them but the paths to tracks do get broken occasionally so a C.C is important.

You can click on a single track and 'Relocate' it and fix the path.

    Let us know

Sorry to be the bearer of annoying news, but that's precisely what DRM is; a means of preventing redistribution and modification. Content with DRM is more of a service you are subscribing to rather than a file that you own. You are at the whim of the terms set by the publisher. Software that allows you to use modified DRM content would be in violation of the American DMCA and maybe other international laws.

My advice is to burn the song to a CD and re-rip it. DRM gone.
