    Good afternoon
    Ive realised huge problem.

I have perfectly analysed, beatgrid corrected, many hotcues tracks with great comment id3 system.

But when i use my flashdisc with copy of these tracks and playlists exports everything is away!

    - analyse lost (i know its maybe be in another database)
    - all hotcues lost
    - all id tags Comment2, catalogno, label - lost
    - beatgrid correction, tempo correction, lock of tracks - lost

How it is possible so massive bug? Why is there lock?

    INTERESTING:
    - tracks that (by mistake) TSP2.6 cant analyse and write KEY, are with ID3 tags as before on second computer
    - tracks that seem to loose their ID3 have them back when loading flashdisc in original computer

analysed and tagged on Macbook Air 2012+TSP 2.6 > copy to flashdics + pl export to flashdisc
tested on PC + TSP 2.0

    Please help

tags written in 2.6.1 cannot be read by 2.0.x... i assume you're having a version conflict here.

What? All my collection is destroyed now for another computers access?

No hotcues, no id3 tags, no beatgrids, no locks? Why Ni allowed this? So many hours of work destroyed by 2.6?

What will do NI with this extreme bug :(

nothing is "destroyed". the newer tags cannot be read by the older traktor.

    there is no "bug"!
as most software, traktor is not in all parts downwards compatible.
tag in the older version and then import to the newer version.
or match the versions on both computers.

    Agreed.

It seems you're an Apple user. Apple frequently drops support for existing technologies. It's not surprising that NI, a much smaller company, drops support for legacy technology at some point. (I suspect the reason you run 2.0.x is because you have an outdated version of OS X installed.)

you can do something about it, If you have a collection file from a previous traktor version, you can open that revious traktor version for example, select all you tracks and right click edit, then you can add example 1 to the tracks tag then click ok, now the old hot cures and grids etc.. will be re written to traktor. Make sure to back up your songs to another another drive or something before re running traktor 2.6.1 because 2.6.1 will re update your tags and you will have the same problem again. I really hate traktor 2.6.1 for this.

I'm sorry but i dont have any older version installed, i've started with lower versions and i'm updating with service center. So you or NI means i should on another computer make older installation and correct for example 900 tracks grids, cues, comments, id3 tags to import it to my DJ Mac 2.6? And never ever tag on my Mac? Crazy.

It is bug! i need sometimes play on other computers and not everyne has or want to have 2.6!

So question is why NI changed ID3 tagging, why when i analysed keys lost 900 tracks informatons
    ---
I worry i dont have backuped Collection file before upgrading to 2.6.1.
There wasnt reason to do this type of backup :(((
    ---
I made perfect tagging of my tracks, OSX and all software, drivers a firmware updated. But i have backup flashdisc with my tracks and playlist for some dj gigs on not my hardware, but what a surprise what i realised ://

huh? so what did you mean by: analysed and tagged on Macbook Air 2012+TSP 2.6 > copy to flashdics + pl export to flashdisc tested on PC + TSP 2.0
this sounds to me like you're using 2 computers.

anyways, if you just update the same computer, you still have the older version installed and you can run it via the respective version shortcut in your backup folder.

no it's not - and when you have to play on other computers with older versions (now we're talking again about other computers, interesting) then you're bound to use older versions, too.

backups of the collection are also created automatically.

I've tagged all my track on older versions on my computer the last one was 2.6.0 after update to 2.6.1 i've key analysed all my tracks. Keys was written and weeks after that i've copyied all my tracks to flashdisc to be able play them on not my computer. Than i've realised that 2.6.1 destroyed all id3 tags that 2.6.1 edited.
(that one which 2.6.1 cant analysed has all id3 ok on other computer)

I have on my Mac two folders with settings and collection (nml i think?) files one folder for 2.6.0 one for 2.6.1. Yes i can import Collection from 2.6.0 but it means that i will loose all my tagging of new tracks i made only on 2.6.1 + im worried all playlist updates will be lost also! Or not?

Second bad thing will be that when i edit any of older track, 2.6.1 delete id3 from files again.

    So what to do now?
    A) not use computers of others (or without all my id3 tags work) and continue in use of 2.6.1 where i can read it

    B) import 2.6.0 collection and make a lot f work again and never edit older tracks more! (i need edit them) But where tag brand new tracks?

    C) downgrade to 2.6.0, but how? and miss key feature. But shoul i stay for how long on old version? until 3.0? or who knows?

    So questions are:
    - Where are ID3, cues, locks stored? In local database (not in mp3 file)? So it wont work on any other computer, even 2.6.1 installed?

    - Why now is 2.6.1 tags uncomactible with other computers, when before it works?

yes, and then tags were written in 2.6.1 - not only key, all tags.

once again: traktor did not "destroy" anything.

exactly. these are created automatically (besides the app or exe backups) to use traktor versions side-by-side without data loss.

yes, if you import the old collection, it will not contain the newer changes, be it on tracks or playlists.
however, if you import a 2.6.0 collection to 2.6.1 you end up with a 2.6.1 collection with all problems when trying to use in an older version!

and again: traktor doesnt "delete" anything.

for several reasons i would generally not recommend to use other computers, but well. if you want to use these computers you're stuck to the version these computers are running. and if you're having a computer that's on 2.0.3 then you have the same problem again even if you only use 2.6.0 from now on.

see above. that doesnt make sense at all.

please read my tutorial found here, there's a lot of useful info:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174101

    both.

if your tracks come from 2.6.1 and you're using another computer with 2.6.1 you have no problems.
if your tracks come from 2.6.0 and you're using another computer with 2.6.1 you have no problems.
BUT if your tracks come from 2.6.1 and you're using a computer with an OLDER traktor version, you get problems!

see above. it's not the case.

It stared to be little bit unclear so i made image to explain problem, and solutions in graphic way - but still any solution id good for me

Thats true that something changed between 2.6.0 and 1 and till way NI will see it as a problem they wont to correct it

please look at attachment, or if anyone will know answers would be great. i want to read my flashdisc tracks anywhere on only on my Mac :(( Same way like before

You have to make a portable version of your Traktor collection on the flash drive. Just copying tracks to a flash drive will not transfer the Traktor data, and importing your collection on a friends computer may mess up their collection.

It is possible to set Traktor to read its collection from the USB drive instead of on the computer, you have to set the path manually. Also, I'm sure there are posts on this forum that explain how to do this...

yup. because there is no problem - traktor installs side by side. so if you want to use older and newer traktor versions, you can do it but be sure to import and tag the tracks in the OLD version and then copy that collection over from the root folder of the old version to the root folder of the newer version. the other way round doesnt work!

i linked my tutorial and really recommend you to read it.

So if i find some function to export my collection to usb drive, i'll get my tracks, playlist and database information on usb drive, thats good. But im worried about two things:

    1. on the flash drive i will lost my folder structure. At this time i'm using two ways how to find tracks. Genre playlists is the first, browse to tracks folders and than foder structure (every month of the year has is own folder - so i can look "wait a moment its a track from autumn so what abou try november folder - and will be lost - or not?

    2. i cant import on friends computer to not to destroy his collection, but if will be possible to change the settings - way to my collection, but im not sure it will be safe for his and wont be possible to play back to back

But if you know the way how to make portable usb drive collection export - tell me, i'll try it

i think what you want to do can't be done exactly as you want, you'll have to give up one thing or the other or, you can bring your computer. i'd choose the last option. in fact is what i do :)

you may want to add a feature request, to build the traktor's collection in a way/structure that can be easily made portable, kind of the recordbox concept, including that traktor's browser has to be able to handle several collections as well.

i've downloaded your "side by side traktors" pdf an i'll try

only problem is that i'm tagging my tracks continously - using tags for personal info, for example that i want to play these tracks for 100% or that these at second set for another feeling. So i should all the time at home use only old one. But ill try to install both side by side

if you're tagging, use the older version or use the same version on all computers - period.
traktor versions are not all downwards compatible to each other. there's no way around it.

You would need to copy your entire Traktor root directory to a USB stick along with the music collection. When the stick is plugged into the your friends computer, use Traktor settings to change the path of the root directory to the one on the USB stick.

You would definitely need to back up your friends settings and documents just in case something goes wrong, and also keep a note of the original paths that Traktor is using so you can change them back easily.

This is not an everyday operation and there may be some risk involved but I can confirm that moving your Traktor root directory works as I used this method when I changed over from PC to Mac
