    Yo, how's it going?

Still learning to use my Maschine MK3. Going great so far but I find it pretty hard to mix with Maschine without having a visual EQ.
Having a visual representation of the frequencies makes so much easier to cut and boost.

Of course you could say that I should trust my ears and just use the internal EQ but the thing is that sometimes I want to get that one annyoing frequency out there which takes about 5 minutes of just listenting and turning knobs.

It can't be that hard to integrate a visual EQ into Maschine, right?
Can you use GarageBand's EQ in Maschine? Didn't find it in Maschine...

I guess my questino boils down to:
Is it a waste of time to mix in maschine? Or is an visual EQ plugin all you need to produce full beats in Maschine?

    Thanks.

    I use FabFilter Pro-Q 2 inside Maschine.

Covers every EQ situation I could ever need...

So, yeah: invest in a good third party EQ plugin. You know which one I'd recommend already ;)

Mequalizer is free and from melda plugins it's part of the melda free fx bundle. I also recommend to enhance the free fx bundle for 50 bugs so you can resize the plugins and have some other advantages.

    P. S. the EQ has a built in analyzer

Toneboosters has a really cheap plugin pack that has a whole bunch of useful utilities. From a really nice limiter to a decent eq. Check them out. I rarely if ever use Maschines eq. It’s not precise enough.

voxengo span is a free spectrum analyzer, you can locate your annoying frequency visualy and use the internal equalizer

Other then a basic mix, I'd never mix anything inside maschine alone unless I had no other choice. First off, working with audio in a proper daw is one step closer to the finished product. You can definitely get your beats close in Maschine. Full productions though? Why? why limit yourself, I route hardware to my stems as well as plugins, from what I remember Maschines not even Multicore yet right? Just seems like a waste of time, if you already have a daw.

It's multicore, just not very efficient at it. If i saturate a project to the point it starts dropping out and crackling because of CPU Maschine uses all my 6 cores almost fully around 80% but only uses 60% of the 6 threads. (i7 8700k)

And I do my arrangements fully in maschine and then bounce to Cubase and mix there with wave files.

Also a big problem of mixing in maschine is when you start using lot of plugins due to the lack of pdc...

    And CPU optimisation.

I can actually have 30% more plugins in Ableton for some reason....

I was thinking about the same thing since I made a purchase of MK3 recently. Instead of seeing big name of an effect i currently use, why not use this big right screen to visualize what's happening in real time, like some analyzer, clocks or whatever.

Otherwise it's really hard to stay on the controller when I can't see what's happening with frequencies.

This is probably what will make your actual Maschine obsolete in the future... Like you have touch macros and we don't on the studio when technically possible :D

I do a lot of pre-mixing in Maschine with it's stock plugins. Honestly a lot of times I'll export directly from Maschine with how I have it set. I get the usefulness of visuals for EQ's and what not but I often get far better results just going by ear. I almost never use third party plugins inside of Maschine aside from Decimort or Frontier from D16. My sp404 has taught me a lot about mixing/making beats by ear which is incredibly valuable.

Dope. Thanks for all the replies.

Okay, general consensus seems to be:
Most peeps build beats in Maschine then bounce to a DAW. Correct me if I'm wrong.

@ everybody that uses a 3rd party EQ in Maschine:
Do you mix entirely in Maschine or just rough adjustments?
I like to keep things simple. If possible I'd like to do everything inside Maschine and only use a DAW when really necessary.

    Thanks in advance.

Nope. Not Maschine vs DAW. Mixing in Maschine vs DAW.
My question wasn't aimed at getting people to compare Maschine to DAWs but at which option is better for mixing / which one you prefer.

I build the whole arrangement in maschine but then bounce every single pad to cubase and mix it there also send fx I rebuild in cubase and automate it there if needed.

Mixingwise in Maschine I use a lot neutron mix tap to make sounds mono, basic high pass for cleaning add mor clarity phase invert if required, automations, levels, pannings, widening, reverbs to basically get the sound I want.
I avoid processing at a group level if I plan to finalize in my daw as I usually export separate tracks. Though if I am happy enough with the overall result, I do process at a group level and export groups for stem mastering.
What makes me finalize in a Daw is to handle eq, comp, limiting, widening automations and such as it is quite painful in Maschine ATM.
Mixing in Maschine can be really great for that purpose I really integrates all my favorite mixing plugins, map and name controls and pages properly for nice workflow. Nice to do those days when everything you do sounds like crap or you're not inspired so I deal with my presets and mapping which make the process better and better in the long run.

I just throw a master limiter and other various effects. Then I export wav files. Import to Cubase and finish that way. I've even found that it's easier to make songs in maschine then import those audio files and re arrange in Cubase. When you get better at knowing how to achieve what you want (sonically) it becomes more intuitive. You may use certain pulgins for certain things inside and outside of maschine. Just aim for sounds within maschine to be around -8 through -3
Then you can adjust in your Daw. No clipping is the goal. Get a decent overall mix within maschine. Then finalize outside in a daw.
