So any way still no fix. I confirmed I have all the latest drivers etc, nothing needs updating, yet the problem still exists.

As an example let's take this,, I can cruise along sweet in maschine 2.+ , but at some point if I want to change the swing, tempo or volume , it will either work or it will randomly try and change the group settings.

Oh, so you still want help despite pretty much rejecting others? ;)

Although you might be completely up-to-date, try closing Maschine if it's open, unplugging the controller if it's plugged in, uninstalling the driver, rebooting your computer, then reinstalling the latest Maschine controller driver and rebooting again. All without the controller being connected. Then reconnect the controller and see if it made any difference.
Also download the firmware updater and double check you are on the latest firmware for the controller.
Also, with the controller disconnected, you can try running the 2.4 installer again.

If it still persists, contact support directly. I seem to remember this being an issue a while back for some, but thought it had been fixed. Switching Groups might be another workaround for the time being.

    Mr. 36 is right.
Hardware related issues that are not reproducible by others will always be either driver, USB or physical hardware related.

These types of issues usually occur after an update by not following the proper update procedure and disconnecting the hardware during the update. Also, sometimes the computer needs to be rebooted before reconnecting the hardware for the driver to load and function properly.

To fix, disconnect the hardware and run the latest update manually and not via service center. This is so you get the options to install the driver for your hardware. Make sure your hardware is checked in the installer dialog. After the install is complete, reboot your computer. Reconnect your hardware controller after the OS fully boots. If this fails, follow the same procedure using the latest driver download. If that also fails, follow the same procedure but after first uninstalling the driver from device manager (if on Windows).

If none of this works, suspect a USB issue or the hardware. A defective hardware can be ruled out by connecting to another computer.

It has been reproduced, by others. I just wonder why it only happens with the 2.3 + updates and not before, but I will try your suggestions. Thanks. I always have my hardware not connected when installing updates because that is what it says to do.

I manually downloaded 2.4 update and ran it. No problems so far, but I bet there will be. I will update with progress.

    Such an optimist.;)
Glad it worked. As mentioned earlier, it was not a software issue at all.

My very first post (5th post here) I recommended upgrading to 2.4. This could have been a very simple and straightforward thread, sadly was not to be!

I did upgrade to 2.4, but through the service center. I had to download it again manually then install , then reboot computer before plugging in hardware. If drivers are not software then what are they? Because they are certainly not hardware. I have not had a long enough go on maschine since I manually downloaded 2.4 , so I can not tell if the problem is fixed yet. But fingers crossed. I will get into a set today and post the progress.

Drivers, firmware and applications are all software. Applications run on top of the operating system, drivers below the OS (or lowest level). Firmware is embedded within hardware (ie controller).

Drivers and firmware and closely connected with each other, as are drivers and the operating system. The application calls the driver via an abstracted layer within the OS, although that layer is pretty much bypassed in the case of ASIO.

    Application ->OS->Drivers->Firmware
(Well there's more to it than that if you look at HAL and OS rings)

In the case of Machine the application and the controller are heavily integrated hence it's even more necessary to keep all of them up on the same level.

Yes , so if it is a driver issue it is a software issue. I know about computers I have been building and programming for about ten years.

In that case, maybe as a certified computer genius maybe you should have updated your app/firmware/drivers before you came and spoke to us mere mortals who haven't got a clue what we are talking about ;)

You seem like a really unhelpful person cakealexs. I have told you many times I updated everything and the problem was still happening. I updated everything when you said 2.4 was available. But I did this through the service center, not manually from the NI download page.

For all you actually helpful people on this thread, I got deep into a set before and and happy to say , problem is fixed.

So yep the fix for me was , to manually download the 2.4 update from NI download page and run it. Then before connecting hardware I rebooted my OS. Thanks a lot. There are a few other threads about this problem that could use the fix given by ,,' B-righteous.

I've never seen a poster change their tune so much. At least you got your issue fixed even though you kept changing your story every 5 seconds... Have a nice day..

"Yep got that , tried maschine again last night and problem happened again, It is actually unusable with this bug, which sux because I was just getting to like maschine 2.0 now have to go back to 1.9"

By "yep got that" I meant Yep got the 2.4 update.

"I have been using 2.4 since yesterday. Everything is up to date. This is a major problem because I can fix it by unplugging the usb cable then plugging back in, but when I do this, if I change a knob the parameters go to zero. so basically my maschine is not usable with the 2.0+ software , which means I have to go back to 1.9.2 and have wasted my money on the 2.0+ update If NI do not fix this then they should refund me the money. In fact they should give me some free **** for the waste of time."

By using 2.4 since yesterday, I meant I had downloaded it and installed it and was using it. By "everything is up to date" I meant everything is up to date. Get over yourself dude.

Indeed, I should have said it's not an application issue.
Anyway, no more bickering about it. Still wondering why the fix for these driver issues has not made it into the knowledge base. Or maybe it is?

I could not find it in the Knowledge base. I realized that Mr 36 said something similar , but no mention of actually manually downloading it from the NI download page. I have always done my updates through the service center ( because NI seem to say that is the safest way),anyway thanks again for the help I will go to the other threads and let them know if you have not already.

Another problem I came across in my second set today was, the preference option randomly opened, and the sliders for the hardware were going nuts all by themselves LOL I had to close the program and restart. Problem sorted after that, but can not be having that happen in a live set.

Also , Mr 36 suggested downloading the firmware updater ( which is actually called the device updater) but I tried that previously , and because my maschine MK1 is pre-2011 the device updater does not work. Maybe I should have waited for post-2011 to buy , but I could not resist.
