Before I pull the trigger on a MK2 I would really appreciate some feedback on integration with Pro Tools 12. From the NI site I find this which mentions Ableton, Logic and Garage Band only. Please share any insights on how PT fits in the picture.

It just works as a plugin. Works with all the NI products as expected.

    Doesn't control anything in protools.

    Hi @mrgroovy

Pro Tools uses a closed technology for Control Surfaces so unfortunately it is not possible at this time to integrate KKS MK2 with Pro Tools via a fully supported method.

    Best,
    Tim

It does support MCU and HUI so you can at least make transport controls work via that. :D

If/when KK supports those protocols - hoping that is on the cards

Thanks @evil Dragon - you are absolutely correct that once MCU transport support is added it will be possible to control the Pro Tools transport from KKS MK2. I am referring rather to the deeper integration of other DAWs.

Every other controller manufacturer seems to be able to do it. Why the apparent incompetence of your programming team?,who considering the marvels of NI products can't seem to program a simple start/stop button.

This seems to be a commercial decision for whatever reason?
Patronising replies just leave us rolling our eyes and buying competitors products.

Tim, please give us some more information on this. We have been waiting about a year for this 'update' - which would simply return Transport Controls, in our eyes.

It's painstakingly obvious that this isn't a priority to Native Instruments. But, it is quite simple and very important to us. It hurts that a company that we adore would leave us without a function it once provided and in the dark about its return.

We show you our support. We give you our hard-earned money. We would appreciate a date, and moreover the MCU Transport Controls. Please, and thank you.

I second to every word of this. We're not talking about some secondary or bonus feature. Selling a MIDI keyboard without MCU support nowadays, it's just as selling... I don't know, a smartphone without Wi-Fi support or something like this. It's just one of these basic things, you shouldn't even question if there's or not; you assume for granted it *should* be there. But it's not there and it's really a shame we're still here discussing this.

☝ FACTS. That's why it is so unbelievably frustrating.

The whole situation is utterly surreal. We don't want to use other things as we know it's not going to satisfy in terms of UX, which NI absolutely nails, but we may be forced to. Kontakt is awesome, but let's face it, NI isn't Apple and shouldn't attempt to be. Mackie's been a concrete standard since about 1997, just like VST. Shipping a product that doesn't adhere to the industry standard like the first-gen had whilst not publicly making a big deal out of it or declaring when it's going to be available is completely bogus. If it's that different, they shouldn't be calling it the Komplete Kontrol, just like we aren't calling it the Kore MK3.

Shipping the Maschine Mikro MK3 without a MIDI mode is evident about how utterly skewed the attitude is towards shipping complete products. I get it, it's software, it's just a controller for software that runs on a host machine, but really, this is so anti-consumer it's not even believable. We're at the one year mark for these products being available. I thought back in May how utterly bizarre it would be if we reached the one year mark without MCU being implemented like our first-gen KK units had, but here we are. I'm wondering if the KKMK3 and Maschine MK4 will be shipping before this is sorted. Maybe we'll even see a Jam MK2 with no MIDI mode? Absolutely hate to be cynical, but to not give customers a regular update after having had their money is tight. Even crowdfunding campaigns check in with a regular update to say how it's going, and most of those products aren't even approaching the value of what the KKMK2 costs. Some of us have bought multiple units for their business, there's no expressing how frustrating this is.

NI, at least start publishing a roadmap or give regular dev diary updates. From the outside, it looks like a complete standstill with basic bug fixes and nothing much happening with KK.

There's a reason people are buying from NI and not some obscure crowdfunding campaign; it's the assumption we can have it today, or at least soon. This is supposed to be professional hardware and professional software for professional use. I expect better.

The state of play with the Jam says a lot too. As does iMaschine. I should miss iMaschine since moving to Android-- but it's not seen an update in years. Since October 2016 in fact. I despair.

And where do we begin with Guitar Rig? It's still available at what's not an insignificant price point, and should have NKS support. I understand that NI's product range is fairly vast at this point, and as with all businesses, products are discontinued over time as the business pivots with the times, but really, if a product is no longer the point of focus, it should be declared as such.

The lack of response from NI on this thread and the apparent lack of support for controlling Protools has lost a customer for NI with me. I was considering the Komplete Kontrol S88 and Komplete 12. This thread as cemented my decision to go with Arturia Keylab 88 and V Collection. A shame really. Besides the lack of ProTools DAW control support, the Komplete Kontrol S88 looks like a great master controller.

I'm not trying to alter your decision, but it easier to reach NI by submitting a support ticket on their main website or using the (or beta-testing/Centercode).

Agreed. I've waited on the MK2 88 key for a year, and finally got one of the first ones. I've got to say I'm pretty disappointed with it, one of the big reasons being I can't even control Playback. I have a few controllers that aren't ideal for Pro Tools, but they at least use HUI to have some features to control Pro Tools. There's no reason NI can't have their MK2 do this. This product and some other things NI has fallen short on are making me reconsider my allegiance to NI. Customer needs aren't a priority for NI unless it affects the bottom line $$.

NI used to be great, everything was so useful and every update getting better and better but now days I don't know what's wrong, especially seeing them shipping all those new products instead of fixing the previous ones. I hope that they going to take the right turn soon or who knows how will be the future
