I am so close to purchasing a Xone 4d. I currently have a VCI100se running on Traktor Pro. Do i wait for the S4 or do I Splash out and get the 4D? What do u reckon?

I'd save the cash and get the S4. It'll probably be more intuitive anyway with better jogs.

I'm definitely getting an S4. I'm not an A&H fan (but not a hater). Plus I'm NI's second biggest fanboy. So take what I say with a grain of salt, and a sprinkling of freshly chopped basil.

You have to remember that teh Xone 4D is an audio mixer with a sound interface and midi controls on its side, while in teh S4, all the controls are midi. As you're used to the VCI 100, the S4 will feel closer (and its jogs definitelty beat the ones found on the 4D.. at least on paper :))

The main difference would be that with teh S4, you'll mix "Internally" and with teh Xone 4D, you'll mix Externally... this will give you more accurate control over volume faders and Eq knobs than their midi counterparts. Moreover, the 4D being Scratch certified, youc an use timecoded media out of the box :)

If "mobility" is one of your priorities, forget about the 4D (even the DX is a hog to carry ... when i think I left vinyl for Digital DJing because I wanted to have a lighter setup for my old back... and I experience the weight of my bag with teh DX, MBP and all, I think I missed something somewhere ;))

Don't forget that the S4 is custom made for Traktor and has even its own version of Traktor, so probably a much easier integration and learning curve.
