I'm brand new to DJing and bought a Traktor S2 today. I installed the Traktor Pro software it came with and everything seemed to be going fine. I hooked up the S2 to my computer and was looking forward to getting stuck in. That's when the problems started happening. First there was no sound coming from the speakers I hooked up to the S2. I searched the internet for a solution and went to "Audio Setup". There it said the Audio Device was Traktor Control S2 (not connected). I switched it to Sigmatel Audio which i think is my laptop's soundcard. After that the sound came out of my laptop speakers. I don't want it to come out of my laptop speakers. I want it to come out of the speakers hooked up to the S2. I tried the headphones but there was no sound. I later noticed the light between the cue buttons that looks like a wire is flashing. I know something is wrong but I don't know how to fix it.
    HELP ME OH WISE ONES!

Edit: I checked the S2 was connected properly at the USB using Device Manager but next to the Traktor Kontrol there was an exclamation mark. I know I need a particular USB port for S2 to work but I don't know what type of USB ports my laptop has. It is a Dell Inspiron 6400. I reinstalled the drivers but it didn't work.

Greetings Gonkboy, sorry to hear of your problem.

There are a few things worth checking and which may affect how Traktor behaves although it varies from person to person. There is a really good thread for setting up and optimising for Traktor, probably as a sticky - I'll have a look later.

In the meantime, not sure if it will help or not but switch on the S2 before firing up Traktor Pro - although you mention Device Manager has a exclamation against the S2 so it may well be a driver problem. Did you install the s'ware and drivers before plugging in and switching on the S2?

Regarding USB ports, my understanding is there is a known issue with USB3.0 on the XPS laptops (which I have) but there is a 'combo' port which is USB2.0 and I've found that works fine. You'll have to search against the Inspiron range to see if there is a similar issue/port available - you'll probably find someone on here has had experience with this.

Hopefully once the s'ware is 'seeing' the S2 correctly you'll be on your way mixing it up.

    Cheers.

I think i've worked it out. I went to Device Manager and double clicked the icon with an exclamation mark next to it. Then I followed the New Hardware Found popups that happen with Microsoft XL. It seems to be working now. Thanks for your reply Back.
