I'm using kontakt inside of FL Studio.

In regular FL studio (outside of kontakt) I have no problem linking a knob to my controller.

I want to link knobs within a kontakt virtual instrument to the controller while in FL studio. I right click and get "learn midi cc automation" but then do not know what to do next, either in kontakt or in fl studio.

I just want to link some pitch bend settings to a knob.

After you choose "learn MIDI CC automation" wiggle the controller you want to use. Kontakt will pick it up and assign it from that point on.

after I click on Learn MIDI CC automation" and wiggle the modulation wheel, it doesn't pick up and assign. I'm getting sound from the instrument, but linking to controller doesn't work.

I have a couple of thoughts:
1-record a MIDI track and move your mod wheel. Is FL picking up CC1? If not check to see if FL is set up to not record CC1, (some DAWs you can assign what CCs are recorded and what CCs are not recorded - I don't have FL so I do not know about that one).
2-if the above is recording and CC1 is not affecting your sound check try assigning another controller to see if that affects your sound. If it does then your mod wheel on your controller is defective.

    Thanks Mario

I'm trying to link the mod wheel to the volume knob within Kontakt. I was successful the FIRST time, then I closed it, and tried it again and can not get it to link. When I move the mod wheel, FL reads it but it shows a green ? question mark. Image2.jpg Image2.jpg Image1.jpg Image2.jpg Image1.jpg

I see that you have the Player and I have no idea about how to solve your problem with it. But what I would suggest is to cancel the learn, safe the program, then open it up again and see if you can get CC1 to work with the patch.

Question, does this happen on any other patches?

I'm not familiar with the Player but if it has different ports make sure it is on port A. Also check what MIDI channel your controller is sending CC1 data and match that channel on the Player. I know that you have omni set but just try matching the channels. If this does not work I am at a loss to help.

PS - an after thought. Try using the mod wheel in Stand-a-lone Player (I am assuming that it has that).

Your Kontakt instruments are set to OMNI - that is, receive all MIDI channels. So any channel should be OK.

What does a green question mark in FL Studio mean?

Can you edit your MIDI item and add some ModWheel CC events to it, then play back that clip and try the MIDI Learn again. Or, use the Browser/Automation/MIDI list and drag #001 onto the volume slider to assign it.

that's another problem I have. I can't find any CC#'s in the browser, I opened every folder and there's none.

That's big. That means you are not recording any CCs! Note that I am assuming you are looking at the MIDI edit list/page. Do you see anything in the piano roll view? My DAW shows my CCs in that view also.

Did you double check to make sure your controller is still sending CCs to other VSTis? It is possible that your controller or USB cable/plug has died. Checking will verify that either way.

OK, then drag it onto the Volume slider. That will do the assignment in Kontakt.

I do not know FL Studio so cannot advise you there.
