Mod Wheel in KONTAKT Ethereal Earth behaving strangely

    Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded to KOMPLETE 12 after playing around with KOMPLETE START. I grabbed a KOMPLETE CONTROL M32 in addition to a better workflow with NI products and for mobile purposes (I already own a big 88 key from M-Audio).
I use Cakewalk by BandLab as DAW. I recorded a track with KONTAKT's Ethereal Earth. But when just playing the track it gets nearly unhearable.

It has to do with the mod wheel function.
When I manually turn up the mod slider on the M32 or in KONTAKT, everything plays normal. But when I stop and replay, the mod wheel is down on zero again and nothing to hear. In the moment I press stop the mod wheel in KONTAKT goes to 0. Why that? I have to manually pull it up again to hear anything from that track.
In Ethereal Earth it is connected to the Cutoff Control. That means, when the mod wheel is turned down, the cutoff frequency is 26 Hz. So not much to hear. ;-)

When I have no MIDI keyboard attached: I record a track (Simple Instrument) with KONTAKT 6 using Ethereal Earth. KONTAKT shows mod wheel at 0 all the time, but everything is played normally. The cutoff is not changed because no change of the mod wheel is transferred to KONTAKT. When I just click once on it, the cutoff reacts going down to zero. So still a nonsense adjustment, but anyhow usable. But can it be that I have to detach my keyboard to work??

    So my questions:
Why (the hell), if the mod wheel is connected to a control with such extreme impact as the cutoff, is the standard value 0? How can I permanently set it to maximum or prevent resetting it to 0 by simply pressing the stop button?
And how can I change the allocation of the mod wheel to sth. that makes more sense? Allocation to nothing at all would be better than having that strange behavior?

Can anyone re-enact that behavior in other DAW? Perhaps it has to do with Cakewalk?

Thanks in advance for every help.

In CbB try turning off “Zero Controllers on Playback” it is in one of the preferences pages... not at the Computer and not sure which one...

As I understand the mod wheel is set to control cut off. Some developers like this. If you can't change it on the gui or there is no mention of it in the manual then use your daw to convert CC1 to something more palatable.

Hey, thank you, that was the first thing answered. The reset to 0 is history!:)
