There's a lot of "smoke" in this thread - could you please provide a screen capture video. It would help for us to understand your problem.

Also check [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVl9EW5uN3A"]this [/ame]video out and compare to what you are getting. I don't hear any "overly compression" on this demo although there's some compression but I relate that to the video producer and not the MONARK it self.

which 'Mixer' are you talking about?

just do what Zootook suggested turn the output down in the top righthand corner so that the sound is not clipping both visually and sonically.

Care to explain how they do? You may get cutouts and pops and clicks due to not having enough time for the system to do it's processing but distortion as in overload? I don't think so.

Heard that comparison before and I can definitely tell the difference between the two. Listening to it on my studio monitors and there's a world of difference.

There's definitely not a "world" of difference. Monark is extremely close to the reference Minimoog model D.

Your opinion and that's okay but not mine. Maybe if Monark got buried in a mix but otherwise - not so much.

please, please turn the volume down using the fader in the top right hand corner that is part of the metering.

we have actually asked you to do this this quite a few times :|

that fader is independent of the Snapshots/Presets. turn it down so there meter no longer goes in the red.

please realise the digital clipping will just distort and sound compressed in a very negative way.

Sowari, I appreciate all the help you have tried to lend, but again, the concern I had was with the programming of the presets. When I audition the preset, and think it's to hot, I reduce the volume of the osc's in the mixer, and then save the presets.

Simply lowering the volume of the fader at the top, leaves me with the same squashing at a lower threshold.

    There's no squashing at all.

Have you tried the moving the white triangle under the meter? This meter should never go red!

If this is still a problem, please provide video or wav example.

as EvilDragon says, there is no squashing.

what Soundcard/Audio Device are you using?

and i also suggest you increase the buffer size as well.

lmao, can you guys not accept that I find some of the presets too hot?

With only 1 osc set at 3oclock it hits at -3db. Thats hot seeing that it still can go a long ways up. Not to mention introducing the other osc and noise channel.

Hmm, I wonder if it is pure coincidence that the only 'two' guys with the negative opinion have n2 in their usernames, one of them has very few posts and the other one is bitter that he didn't get Razor instead of Monark ?

yeah, must be coincidence, I should stop being so suspicious.

When I load up razor, those presets aren't all squashed. You all are really are taking my observation really personal for some reason.

And I like monark. I have three voyagers and it sounds good in the mix with all of them. Though I don't see myself really needing it that much. More interested in other NI offerings.

My buffer size is fine. If i was getting any overruns I'd increase it.

It should be possible to overload the filter - resulting in a slight saturated sound. And that's a feature. But that doesn't mean the meter should go into the red. It's really hard to say unless you share what you hear...
