    nice workaround

i have been halving the tempo, pressing Apply To and then doubling the Pattern moving the Notes on the Grid so that they play on 8ths rather than 16ths.

and yes, i missed the perfectly looped sample bit. but Maschine will still cut it into 16ths based on working out the BPM, so i still don't quite get it.

anyway, i am hoping NI are watching all this and will improve the chopping features.

i just found something else about slicing: i just sliced a beat to 16th with auto, if you then choose "single", you can scroll through all 16th available, but there's no way to hear the slice you just chose, and it's difficult to find the right one in a "rich" beat. If you hit the pad, the whole loop plays. To hear a preview of that slice or hear it when pressing the according pad would be really nice.

yes, the lack of ability to preview slices is absurd.

Workaround: search the slice you want with the keyboard, go to Pianoroll and see where it's at (e.g. 2-4), and then count through the slices to find it. But "Workflow" is indeed something else ;)

Huge +1 for me too. This is still forcing me to use drumracks in ableton where i would prefer to keep this workflow inside Maschine

Also. It would be nice to have a running marker on the waveform of the sample while you playback.
    Normalize would be nice too.

A Slice Preview Function would be very nice too

Yeah, I have been trying to slice breaks all night and the function as it stands now is nearly unusable

sorry, but i have to disagree with this, i have sliced loads of my loops.

i do agree that slicing needs improving though.

Yeah, that's fine, I understand but I will BET you that we are not slicing the exact same loops. When I can see a peak that is CLEARLY stronger than the transient that the slicer has selected to slice at, and then I can't even edit those points, and the thing turns into a huge mess, the function is (IMHO) unusable. I should be in control of my tools, not at the mercy of their limitations.

We are talking about loops that recycle can handle just fine, plus (as we all know) recycle can let me go in and edit anything that it boffs up.

To each his own, but the more I play with this thing the more I look at it as an entry-level piece of gear.

Agreed it's fine if your sampling heavily syncopated drum machines or any beats that are tight in rhythm but for breaks from old 60's and 70's Funk and such like, that are a little off kilter it's a bit different.

Here's hoping they are listening and do something about it!

im sampling from old records and i agree that the editing and slicing functions need major improvment.....

however, please keep in mind that until we see an upgrade you can still pick up your mouse and fine tune, select and deselect your slices...

admitedly, i dont see why ni would have released the product without developing more powerful tools for slicing audio... if you ask me that would be a no-brainer

    Slicing sound

I know it's possible....please make this better. Just like it is on the MPC. I want to choose the number of slices. not just 16 or trans...and nothing with BPM, just slice the zone I've selected...

I'm a real hiphop producer......the maschine is not perfect at all...but it comes really close if you guys makes the chopping feature better....you'll get more mpc users to the maschine....

    I completely agree with MaccieMac.

I am really disapointed by the slicing features that Maschine offers.
One should at least be able to manually adjust the transients.

It seems like Maschines editing features are only designed to work with "metronome like" drum loops. :S

The ability to fine tune while hitting a pad should be there too. I also think that one should be able to adjust the sensitivity of the knobs.
Its not precise enough for me too edit a sample so I always go back to my mouse.

    Please NI :(

cue, if you press Shift and move a knob it is more precise.

Try to trim the start or end point of a sample with the Shift button pressed and play the pad at the same time. You must have really big hands to reach all pads while holding your right thumb on the Shift button.
