    Hello all

    I have a question.

In nuendo 3, when i select the kontakt16out vst as my sampler, is it possible to add more Stereo channels? i plan on using kontakt for my seperate drums, and samples..

The plugin outputs after no.3 and no.4 in kontakt get denoted seperate Kt. surr. mixer channels resulting in applying the same affect on two channels just for one dedicated sample.. unlike.. Kt. st. 1 and Kt. st. 2 mixer channels.

    ----------

To get a better understanding of my problem i would like you to download these two pics..

One of them not sharing channels-thumbs up

    Another sharing surround channels-thumbs down

    ---------
    No-Nos:

*Doesnt want to add the same effect to a sample;doesnt want a single sample to share two outs...when essentially, its logic*
    ---------
i dont want to intensify the CPu load by applying more than one waves rverb to the same snare, or sample, etc...

    is there medicine?

i think what you want to do is in kontakt, setup the outputs as you want them, ie: 5 stereo pairs instead of 2 and a surround output, then choose set as default. unload kontakt from nuendo, then reload it. the output configuration should have been changed to how you set it in kontakt.

whenever i choose outputs beyond 5+6 they still get seperated like that, each output seems to have a stereo channel on nuendos mixer already.. if i create an output in kontakt, and only define one output and not 2, then it only goes to one mixer channel track in nuendo but that specific sample with the new output is extrememly low in volume..

Please have a look if this is definitely a stereo channel in nuendo and not a mono. If you have a mono channel than I have this problem too! It's not possible for me to create a new channel in Kontakt that is an stereo channel in SX. I get only two mono channels.

    its a stereo channel..

    its odd though..

when i define only 1 channel for one of the default st outputs it becomes mono... but for outputs beyond 5+6 its stereo no matter what.,

I've found when you launch K2 as stand-alone and configure outputs, these settings override any other vst output assignments. Maybe try your output configuration in stand-alone, quit then in your host initiate an instance. Maybe that'll work.

Gil, have you tried to create a new channel and hit the "make default" button + unload/load Kontakt in nuendo?

Some steps that solved the problem for me:
    - open up a new project (if you take an existing project and change the Kontakt outputs you will have an error message at next startup!)
    - load Kontakt2
    - (I don't know if that's important but I deleted the 5.1, and removed the channel assignment from the 4 AUX channels)
    - create a new channel, assign two outputs (I took the next free channels 5 + 6)
    - click the "make default" button
    - close and unload the Kontakt instance
    - load up a new Kontakt instance

Voila, the output in Kontakt is there and now I had the new VST stereo channel in Cubase. This is easy, I don't know why I had this strange problems. Tried it many times, I think there were always a wrong step in it! (Maybe it was the standard 5.1 and/or AUX assignment, I don't know...!)

Hope this will help you too.

    Regards

I forgot: If you want to change the output configuration in an existing project, you have to unload the Kontakt2 instances (that means loosing all the instrument settings) and load Kontakt with your new output configuration.

Maybe it's possible to save all the instruments and settings from your project in a bank.

i can't believe how easy this actually was... thanks for clearing things up..

just something i'd like to ask here before i post a new topic about it..

when i save a project, then close it.. . and open it later on to finish it or sum'n the volume levels are all messed up.. is there anyway to fix that?

    Great! :)

I guess you mean some volume levels in Kontakt. Well, I had a related issue like this. But this were just a "misconfiguration" in my SX: The MIDI-channels in Cubase were set to "100" instead "off". Before I'm saying something unnecessary please have a look if some of your MIDI-channels are set to "100".

    Regards

    Hi again,

with MIDI-channels set to "100" Cubase isn't able to save the Kontakt volumes properly. (I guess the same goes for Nuendo.)

In SX I tried to change the channel-volumes to "off" but it doesn't worked!

I figured out that there is only one way to solve it, you could try this with just one channel first:
    - I had to create a new MIDI-track with volume set to "off" (if you set it once to "off" it is the standard for the next new channels!)
    - copy all the MIDI-events from one "100"-channel to the new "off"-channel (and do all channel related things like effects. But make sure there is no MIDI-volume automation!)
    - do the channel assignment SX/Nuendo <-> Kontakt for the "off"-channel
    - IMPORTANT: undo the channel assignment from the "100"-channel!
    - reload the related instrument in Kontakt or Kontaktplayer to set the volume to its standard
    - that's it, just save the project and reload it to see if that works

That's how it works for me. It's a bunch of work to do for all channels/projects, but I'm glad I'm solved it.

    Regards

    Kai
