    Hi everyone,

I had a bit of a random question. I am a Traktor/x1 user. I was watching some live performances of Crookers and Bloody Beetroots and I was wondering how those guys do live sets with two DJs? Anyone here in a DJ group like that? How do you do it if so, and if anyone else has any idea, i'd love to hear it.

whenever I've played a versus set, I play one track, other DJ plays the next, rinse, repeat

not sure how it works in a "live performance" with other instrumentation though... could just be for show

Huh. So that's how Versus works. I learned something today.

at least that's how it's worked when I play out (first ever club gig was vs on CDs)

could also be 2v2 (one DJ plays two tracks, then the next guy plays two) but that's less spontaneous, and easier

EDIT: also having four hands and four ears makes it easier to rip over the effects, drop samples, have three or four decks playing etc, but that really depends on if you're both good DJs (I'm not) or you've practiced

all of the DJ groups have different approaches to their sets...some will actually work on the mixer at the same time, but usually in this case I'll see one focus mainly on EQs or FX while the other works the tempo and channel control.

My sister and I, the Root Down Collective, have worked in so many different ways...we've done planned sets and improv sets. she doesn't scratch and I do, so often times I'll add some flare to her mixes. we both love to run and jump around stage as the hype man.

if you want to get into something like this...i'd recommend getting with someone and starting with something like 3-record tags...then if you think you have a good sound work on shorter and shorter tag sets.
