Im talking about what I would do in traktor with the delay effect. however limited it might be.. You would come up with lot nicer effect if you used some thing like a boss digitial delay stomp box. Or anything of the like .. perhaps the vintage tape box I was describing.. <ideally and then when you are done with it .. send it over to me stateside so I can 'borrow' it.

referring to the feedback knob in the traktor delay effect. This knob simulates the saturation control of the old machines. ie/ How much of the delay chain output is fed back into the input. same goes for the simple delay in ableton.

speed i mean the speed knob in traktor. SPD as it is noted on the module. what doing here is starting with a number of repeats that have a certain amount of time between them. Then you are decreasing that time. By increasing sspeed so they are closer together. This gives the feeling of lifting off or greater sonic compression.

Youve really gotta try this on a decent machine or a plug in in ableton. Traktor's scene is pretty lame. But its what we are talking about. You can do a limited example of this effect with traktor3.

You could make this effect in ableton by creating a synth sound and repeating a couple of notes to create saturation and then mess around with the delay effect. If the tones go along with the song you are playing thats good. Ideally you should be able to grab some sound out of your mix and mess around with it in a good delay module. Richie hawtin does that with the A&hzone 92 in alot of his vids -- thats wht hes doing there on the left side of the board. Hes got tracks playing in his regular mixer channels and then he has auxillary sends that he is piping into and out of his other mac book.

Hello... so this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL6BG9rdIyU

ok what effect is being used at 01:08 for like 2 seconds. it's kind of sounds like a pitch shifter and a ring modulator? i'm not sure how can one do this in Traktor?

it also happens again at 5:36

Sounds like he's using delay, which could be delay T3 with Traktor, through the buildup, then turning up maximum on some transpose stretch, and then the breakdown comes in.

Or something like that. I can't get near his high pitch. If you have 100 Transpose and 0 Flanger, you're getting near. And then add some delay T3.

I don't think it can be reproduced with Traktor ._.

From what you can see on the screen (and what he's looking at), for example at 5:36, it's clearly traktor. I think he uses two computers. The one you can see has the tracks and the other one dedicated to effects (it's the one in front of him).

I don't use traktor that much cuz I only have SCRATCH DUO and I find that it is terrible at linking to my CDJ800s (when I press cue, there's some latency before it actually starts "CUP"-ing). I have a good enough MBP, so that's not the issue, it's the hardware and I got the update too. Anyway, since I only have DUO, I don't have all these advanced effects, but I would imagine it would be him using what was described before (extended delay + transpose stretch) to achieve that.

Are the DJM800 effects even relevant anymore? (what I use). Seems like you can do so much more using software these days.

he is building up the delay and then presses the FFR button . turn the knob slowly then fast to get the transpose stretch sound .
