Just about every other DAW (or DAW'ish) software has zoom functionality using the mouse wheel. It's so very inconvenient to have to click on the very tiny arrows on the horizontal scroll bar or use the +/- to zoom the timeline.

ctrl+mousewheeel, shift+mousewheeel, alt+mousewheeel, any one of these would suffice.

Is there a reason why this wasn't a feature from the beginning?

you can use (command + up and down arrow keys) to zoom BUT

+1 because I agree with (command + scroll wheel) I think everyone would be much better off zooming in and out that way instead.

It's really amazing to me that not only was this not a feature from the beginning, but how few people seem to care about it, when having the ability to zoom (and scroll horizontal and/or vertical) makes it SO much easier to use... (like ALL other DAWs and/or DAW'ish software)

Not having a lot of replies doesn't mean people dont care, most users dont really browse around the suggestion subforum much, they mostly only come to ask what they want and then bounce... unfortunately. :S

It's not a proper solution but note that you can use the controllers for horizontal zoom/scrolling, in the Navigate Menu. Oddly there's no vertical zoom there tho... (ツ)_/¯

Yeah, I hear ya. I am part of a couple FB groups as well, not much response there either. But you're right, it's a small % of people that are on those groups, and/or here...

Yeah, having started out with Maschine strictly using the M+ I am familiar with that workflow. ;) However also being a long time DAW user, just seems like a no brainer to include standard mouse functionality and I can't for the life of me understand why they wouldn't in the beginning.

+1, and to take, a step further, gesture “pinch” to zoom in/out on macOS with trackpad or mightymouse would be nice. Look how fluid it works in Bitwig, for example.
