    I have been searching for the thread that listed the leagal mp3 web site and it must of gotten wiped out with the forum change.

    All though I do get alot of music from Beatport they seem not to carry some of the labels I like or are weeks behind when they do get it.
    Congos label is Slamming and buying vynal and converting is getting annoying.

    For an example this is what Im looking for and I have found only 2 on beatport

    01 :: 8 letters - Holmes Ives featuring Avalon Frost (Tommy Boy Remix, Shinichi records)

    02 :: D*** for Brains - Lyszak (Superchumbo remix, yellow records)

    03 :: I feel love - Antoine Clamaran (Original mix, congos records)

    04 :: Want my body - Peer pressure Part II (Rooster & Sammy's remix, Tweek'd Tunes records)

    05 :: Tribal Spain - Part 6 - Jesse Garcia (original mix, tribl spain records)

    06 :: Subliminal Funk - DJ Rooster & Sammy (Ny Funk Mix, Tombata records)

    07 :: Do I look like a slut - avenue D. (Peter Rauhofer Remix, Star 69 records)

    08 :: Need To Feel Loved - Reflekt (Thrillseekers Remix - Positiva Records)

    09 :: Master of Drums - Robbie Rivera - (*69 Records)
    10 :: Live Element - D.B.M.D. (Gossip Records)

    I can find these on vynal but why bother

    Thanks for any help

    You might even find Reflekt on iTunes. A lot of the positiva releases turn up on there (on UK iTunes at least).

    Yep, Jhymn works great. I've got almost 800 hymned iTMS tracks and I'm so happy to finally be able to use them in Traktor. Now, if I just DIDN'T have to use JHymn...

    Is the bitrate of iTunes (128kbps AAC isnt it?) not adequate quality to begin with in terms of playing mp3s on a decent sound system?

    Man, do you know what kind of argument you've resurrected? :)

    IMHO, probably 99% of the AAC's that I've purchased from the ITMS ARE good enough to play on a big sound system (and I routinely play them). I have had 1 or 2 bad ones (out of some 800 songs purchased) but I couldn't unequivocally attribute that just to the encoding (e.g. it could have been the original work--I don't know about you, but I've heard some stuff, mostly hip-hop, that just sounds like trash, even from CD).

    However, sound quality is SO subjective that it's completely a matter of personal preference. All in all, there have probably been thousands of posts on this very subject on this board and I would bet you that not one person has been convinced of a position other than his/her own original position as far as compressed music goes.

    That being said, the only way to know for yourself is to try it YOURSELF. Do a double blind listening test on a big system. If YOU can't tell the difference, than who cares about the bitrate or the compression scheme. However, do yourself a favor and don't come to a conclusion before you do the test. I mean, if you're going to say, "it's compressed, so I don't care, there's no way it can sound as good" (as some people do) then don't even bother...

    stating the obvious here.... you have to realise that a 128 AAC is nothing like a 128 mp3.

    The beauty of AAc is that you can get (approximately) the quality that you'd typically get with an mp3 encoded at 192 in an AAC at 128.

    I've switched from mp3/192 to AAC/128, & it sounds fine on a big system.

    With DRM protected files is it possible to convert to a format of your choice without having to crack it?
