Does anyone have any additional questions regarding the MPC-X? Headed back to NAMM this morning.

Ran into Saint Joe yesterday. He was just finishing up an interview with Andy Mac to get the answers to questions from forum members.

The MPC-X doesn't need me to sell it. It sells itself. You either need or want one or not. Everyone doesn't need to have one.

Jahrome, for MPC Touch, Ren, and Studio users, when will the 2.0 software be available?

No street date for the MPCX nor the MPC 2.0 Software.

I’d like some in depth information on the onboard sounds. So far all that’s been said is that it does have multisampled/keygroup sounds but nothing. Preset count, review of quality, etc would be helpful.

Please read my post again, understand the context, and pay particular attention to the phrase "From this perspective..." - your claim that what I said was "wrong" is based on a misunderstanding of what I wrote and what I was talking about. You are describing a workflow where a standalone groovebox is sufficient and that workflow is fine, some want that, but for the many that have to come to expect and rely on computer-based workflows, it won't be enough and a return to the computer will be necessary or, as we were discussing, not using the computer and plugins from the start won't even be an option (hence the standalone capacity would be a glorified sketchpad).

There is no hate from me here. I see the value of these new machines, how they sit in their niche, and how they offer something not immediately available with other setups. But I also understand that they were not sent from any kind of deity and have their limitations and their place, just like anything else.

2.0 is projected to be available for all devices at the same time.

Akai is currently looking at March for the release of the new MPC(s) according to Andy Mac.

I can confirm that the software development is working hard on 2.0.

In summary, you want the MPC-X but don't want to pay for it.

There are thousands of hardware MPC users. Finally there is a new MPC that appeals to both hardware and software-based MPC users.

Not even close. I don't want it even slightly. It's interesting, but not for me at all.

And as I've actually tried to point out in this or the other thread, its price is pretty much in line with its functions and other gear.

Not for everyone...same applies to pretty much any product.

You do realize this is the NI forum, right ?. I mean your posts portray this attitude as if people who actually use and enjoy NI products (yes, they do exist on this forum) must buy into your spite that NI has "duped", lied or tricked us. Hogwash man. I realize this is an open forum, but seriously. NI is no different than Akai in terms having their own business strengths and weaknesses. How is Akai "winning" if they haven't even release or sold any of these products yet ?

And I've given some of my thoughts on new MPCs. Yeah, they look great. But (obviously) not for everyone and I still think these products are untested in a real production environment. I didn't see any full (song) productions in any of the beta videos. Just a bunch of short recordings. Not to mention I don't instill a lot of confidence in Akai's software development. We'll see how they do. I hope they do well and pressure NI to come up with something better.

These products are being tested in real production environments as I type this. Any MPC Software users know that they have been stable since 1.7. I have an album full of material done in 1.9.

Fair enough, but I think you have to say that since you seem to be the unofficial MPC spokesperson throughout this thread.

There are several dozen producers that use the MPC Software in real world situations that are part of the beta team. I suspect the same is true for Machine's Software.

Are you currently using the MPC Software?

apparently allot of people think that music was invented by desktop computers running mac OS X or windows and cannot for the life of themselves comprehend Maschine's number one selling point- that it is a closer experience to a standalone instrument. Even babies comprehend cutting the umbilical. ... ell ohhh elllll

the way I see it, stand alone mpcs must be very, very, important because people that don't even use mpcs are as interested as people who do. I guess when the NI head dev said that the mpc was an inspiration for maschine he wasn't lying.
