well if maschine's sequencer is worth $99, then that would mean that the mpc sequencer is at least worth $900

this will be my first mpc. i never had anything against mpcs it's just that i went a different route with yamaha, roland and some korg.

it's the standalone aspect of the mpc live that hooked me in. i personally don't like having to be attached to a computer all the time unless i'm trolling.

:) me too, not my first mpc but I like them for the same reason I've had the vs880/vs1680, sp808, 505, 303, emix etc...
it's the reason I like maschine.

I think the only way to settle this is a boxing match.

The hardware on the MPC X looks great!

It's not for me though, I have the MPC Touch and no need for a stand alone.

I'm glad everyone else is excited by the X and Live.

Great thing about these hybrid MPCs...they will work in 30 years the same way it works today in standalone mode.

I did not like the mpc touch at all. It is lost somewhere in my live room of my studio behind mic blankets. I used it to hold down the end of blanket covering a guitar amp and now i cannot find it. Must of got moved by someone. But a stand alone mpc I would like because that's how I've always used mpcs. But these kids now drawing their beats on laptops and ableton not sure they are ready for it. Too much work to actually learn to play anything even as simple as an mpc

Unless there is some magic battery technology that I'm not aware of I highly doubt that.

Not to mention that their only purpose at that point would be nostalgia.

(And I feel like we've come full circle.)

battery tech is easily upgradeable thankfully.

and we shouldn't bring nostalgia into it until the features it offers are surpassed.
I'd say that machines sequencer refusing to do what even the cheapest iPad sequencers can do is more evidence of nostalgia, it doesn't want to change unless it has to and now it has to.... of course the popular response to that is..' I like maschines sequencer just as it is, it reminds me of sequencers back in the day' yet nobody attaches the nostalgia moniker to maschine. The extra irony is that maschine is trying to emulate a older beat machine that people do attach the nostalgia moniker too:p

Hm, if this is true (and at this point I'm inclined to believe it), it can be for any number of reasons.

You shouldn't drop a bomb shell like that without any proof whatsoever.

this may be it however i do recall something else with a specific retailer mentioned. it wasn't a US retailer so i didn't make note of the name.

Well, if Maschine Studio has been discontinued, at least we can rest assured that any new software update that the Maschine may receive will be backwards compatible as all of Maschine's software updates have been thus far. This may also mean that there is a new flag ship controller on the horizon. Surely, Jam wasn't meant to be the new flagship controller. I honestly don't see the need or desire to own Jam. It may be the fact that I already own Push 2 and an APC 40, but Jam doesn't appeal to me at all.

Saying the studio can't do anything the mk2 can do is not true either
