I don't. That video was edited. The laptop appears and disappears. Look closely. If something did crash, it was edited out.

all promo videos are edited, the place I ordered from already told me if I wasn't satisfied they would take back the unit
no questions asked.... and that they wouldn't be treating it like spectrasonics software or other where no refunds apply
I haven't seen anyone at namm claim there were any problems with what they saw.... and this is with them currently saying they are still readying the software for march.... that's a good sign Imo

if all goes well this will be the closest thing to Ableton live in hardware/stand alone since the Yamaha su700....I can only be ecstatic about the prospect.

Q-links can be mapped to internal parameters as well as MIDI CCs for external gear. This feature is implemented in 1.9 and 2.0.

MPC Standalone to MPC Controller w/ MPC Software
    1. In Standalone mode, name/save your MPC project directly from the hardware
    2. Launch MPC Software on your Mac/PC; put the MPC X / Live in Controller Mode
    3. From the MPC hardware, load the project you previously saved into the MPC Software

The same workflow works in reverse but standalone mode only supports 8x audio tracks.

I'm aware of the current workflow I'm just saying have a button within the UI that made the transfer seamless and did things like automatically bounce down stems and save a project for you and open that project in the standalone unit would have made things easier for some people. I personally don't mind putting in the work, but it would have been a nice thing to have for usabilities sake. So it would be a more seamless workflow between the two as oppose to this is one thing and this is another.

It's just a minor nitpick on my part, nothing major.

Technically, it appears this isn't possible. Going between standalone and controller modes there is a shutdown/boot process (takes about 1-3 seconds).

And if it were possible, users would be complaining that MPC Software projects won't load into standalone mode because the project size is too large.

    MPC 2.0
What if I have an MPC Touch, Studio or Renaissance? Can I still I get the MPC 2.0 Software?
Yes! Here is a quick run-down:

    • All MPC Touch, MPC X and MPC Live owners will receive a copy of MPC 2.0 upon release.
    • Users who purchased an MPC Renaissance, MPC Studio Black, or MPC Studio within 4-months of the software release will receive a coupon code for a free upgrade to MPC 2.0.
If you do not fall into one of these two categories, don't worry! The software will still be available to purchase at an upgrade price for existing MPC users that are outside of the grace period:

    • MPC Studio, Studio Black and Renaissance owners can upgrade from MPC 1.x to MPC 2.0 for $99
    • MPC Element owners can update from MPC Essentials to the full MPC 2.0 for $149.99

Hmm. Wasn't aware of the shutdown boot process. That kind of makes sense now.

It takes approximately 3-4 seconds to go between modes.

Saint Joe posted a multi-part NAMM video with questions and answers about the MPC-X and Live.

    a follow-up to this response.

I understand that the only way to get a project made in standalone onto the laptop (v.2.0) is to bounce the down to audio stems, and then physically reopen that 'project' on a laptop?

now one question. Will I still be able to edit effects, filters, envelops, etc., that were applied in standalone, or is everything, including effects, bounced down to audio-clips.?

Put different, are effects created in standalone still editable on the v.2.0 software?

that's very good, and a bid surprising. so these are not actual bounces down to audio stems, but something else, i.e., proprietary to MPC 2.0.
    cool.

lets see what Jah says in clarification because I'm not sure about the bounce down details but they have repeatedly quoted the 2.0 software on the unit as the same as the 2.0 software on the puter minus the vst capability.

We have to wait for the official word from Akai if the MPC Software and MPC standalone will have identical effects. MPC standalone projects will open flawlessly in the MPC Software 2.0.

MPC Software 2.0 projects will load into standalone mode with limitations all previously discussed (e.g., MIDI track counts, audio track count, 3rd party VSTs, etc). If you are using instruments and FXs that standalone mode doesn't support, you must bounce these down to stems so they can be imported as audio tracks.

That conversation was pertaining to MPC Keygroup programs that have velocity layers for more realistic sounding instrument patches. The MPC pads / pad banks / transpose field can be used to trigger these instruments over a 10 octave range. Ideally, an external MIDI keyboard should be used.

ok thanks. this is kind of important for me..

So i understand this correctly, so long the MCP software and the MCP standalone share the same effects, i can flawlessly edit effects created initially with the MCP standalone on the MCP software?
