That is a great question and would be dope. Save a G off the X and get relatively the same functionality (maybe). I think I am going the route of getting a used Ren for in the studio and a new Live for mobililty (around the house, on the stoop (porch), in the backyard in a hammock, on the beach in a bungalow, on plane, train or automobile, on safari in the outback, riding a camel in Dubai, etc).

You can't use an external MIDI controller to control the Qlinks in the MPC Software GUI.

That sucks... any specific reason for this?

    Not a priority?

My best guess...they are busy ensuring their own MPC controllers are tightly integrated with the MPC Software.

Those needing this feature should petition Akai in the Akai Community forum or the unofficial MPC Forums.

I bought the MPC Element when it first came out. I liked it but the essentials software was too limited. Havent used it in over a year....Now i see Element users can upgrade to the MPC 2.0 software for $149. Anyone think its a good deal to go for?? I am a maschine mikro user and happy except for not having a decent song mode clip launcher type thing.
My budget wont allow the MPC Live at the moment. Thanks.

Of course because some don't want to post on the mpc forums or some are waiting around to see what NI's next move is.

No. A better way to go would be to take that $149, add another $200-$250 and get a used MPC Touch. Then you would get the full 2.0 experience with about 90% of the power of the new MPCs. You could even sell the Element to help with the cost or keep it to use as a portable controller.

The MPC Forums is not an official Akai forum. It was started by an MPC user that now peddles sample packs that few people buy and tutorials based off of techniques shared by other MPC users over the years.

Quite a few people in this forum own / use an MPC and Maschine as well as other NI products. Obviously they stay in tune to the next updates NI provides.

I actually am quite enjoying your regular posts here on the MPC. Its given me a new light and refreshed respect for Akai that I never had before. So please continue. I think its healthy for NI peeps to see this stuff.

So guys, i am one of those who will be puchasing the MPC X. I likely will sell my studio to help with the funding. However I ALSO own a komplete S88 keyboard that I LOVE and particularly use for the chord and scale functions. That alone makes it worth it for me and saves me lots of time. However, I have always hated being stuck to a computer to make music. This makes the X worth it for ME. With that said, can anyone suggest a workflow that would allow me to keep the functionality of the s88 WHILE using the MPC X? Kind of how the Studio worked flawlessly with the S88. Should I just run maschine as a plugin inside the MPC 2.0 Software?
    Many Many thanks...

Actually it does. An MPC user creating a fan page/forum is just that regardless of how useful it is. No official information is provided in that forum.

To the best of my knowledge, Tutor doesn't have nor has used an MPC Live nor MPC X.

If at all possible, I would not sell the Studio. I say this because I and many others have had remorse selling gear in favor of other pieces. Only after I have spent plenty of hours on new purchases will I ever look to sell away existing gear.

As far as the S88, some one who owns one and used it with 3rd party apps will have to chime in. Until then. what kind of integration / workflow are you looking for when using the S88 alongside an MPC?
