agreed but for the sake of this particular convo, there's nothing to compare it to since maybe the SU700,.... so even without midi if it works it will be progress.

combine these things with the fact that it's a live looper, (like looper pedal) and I think it's a far cry from the maschine experience...
I think if it works you will see allot of people out there coming together with their portable scratch turntables, mpc lives, and live looping instruments.

I feel silly of not thinking about this before. Akai makes MPC libraries available to you as downloads once you register your MPC. Once downloaded and installed, you can place your library anywhere you like.

In controller mode, the MPC Live behaves the same as the MPC Touch. Once you go into their Browser, you have access to your computer's entire file system and any connected drive.

To access the Vault (factory content) on a Mac: Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Akai/MPC/Content

On my testing unit, the MPCs Internal Flash storage doesn't appear to OSX in controller mode. However, I installed a 500GB SSD inside the MPC Live and it appear on my desktop in controller mode. This is the easiest way to get files to and from your computer from my experience.

Clips are for launching audio / samples. Is there something particular you were interested in as far as MIDI clips?

The MPC Software was not on display at NAMM 2017. Perhaps that is the reason why you didn't see anything special?

*Not not suggesting or implying the MPC software is one way or the other. Each user will have to decide for themselves..obviously.

As far as launching MIDI clips...excuse me for my ignorance..but what is that? And how do you expect such a feature to work in an MPC?

The MPC doesn't currently come templates for specific DAWs. You will have to create those yourself and save them.

The MPC plugins have 16x stereo channels of routing to your DAW. E.g., once I insert the MPC plugin on a Track, Logic X allows me to create 16x aux channels whose inputs are mapped to the MPC 16x stereo outs.

In plugin mode, the MPC plugin stays sync'd to your DAW. *An area where I would to see improvement as there are times I want to work with the MPC plugin offline.

In standalone mode, the MPC syncs (send/receive) MTC, MIDI Clock, and MMC.

Too many annoyances for me to use the MPC plugins. For example, if I am using UAD powered FXs in an MPC project and load it into Logic X...you get a bunch of messages as your plugins are disabled. There are particular Apollo settings for Logic X. I rarely use the MPC plugin because of this.

I prefer the MPC to be its own DAW so I don't need any other application.

    Question to Jahrome please.
On the MPC Live hardware in standalone, in step sequencing mode can modulation parameters other than velocity be adjusted via the touch screen?

Wait the MPC software used as a plugin disables plugins? Can you clarify that?

So does the operating system seem stable to you? I know there is a lot going on under the hood with touch screen abilities and all, but isn't there FX plugins on the unit and is there a maximum amount of plugins you can load at one time before (if), the touch screen gets glitchy or slows down (kinda like latency pulling OS resources can cause slower response time on programs)?

Can you mpc users tell me what the keypad is for on the right? Obviously for punching numbers, but for what purpose?

Thanks for posting this vid, but it seema kinda like Andy is avoiding talking about certain things, like the software and sequencing more than just loops. Im also curiois to see how much mpc x users will need to use the mouse... weve been spoiled by the studio with how much we can step away from using the keyboard and mouse, and the reality is not all of these controllers are created equal, and they may not have the same level of control. (Not that Akais purpose is or isnt to give us this level of control as Maschine gives us, just sayin')

Its a standalone MPC, why would you need to use a mouse?

    Sigh.

    Because it's not strandalone.

    It's a *hybrid*.

Which means that it functions both as a standalone unit and as a controller when connected to a computer.

Having standalone functionality does not make it a standalone anymore than you being able to sit down means you're unable to stand.

yes, meaning can you use clip launch mode to launch clips of midi tracks in the same way that you can use it to launch clips of audio?
