whether or it works or not would depend on the instrument as there is no industry standard value for instrument level. however instrument levels are usually somewhere between mic level and line level.

For anyone wanting a very cheap, but good sounding amp sim, this Joyo American Sound is really nice Fender sim and the output impedance is 10k Ω so it can handle line level input. Here's a nice blind test shootout with a Fender tube amp. I have some Tech21 pedals and a bunch of other amp-in-a-box pedals (Catalinbread, Wampler, etc) as well, but I really like this one.

I can also vouch for the Joyo American. It's really a wonder, especially for its price.

Thanks! I haven't heard of these pedals before. I bought this one and the British one since I'm more of a Vox Marshall fan. Can't wait to try them.

Mate of mine is more a Marshall man too, so I got him the British and it is also pretty impressive. I'd say the American is more versatile and has a wider range of different usable settings, but the British is definitely worth its weight. And there's also the AC Tone for Vox style stuff (it reviews well, but I have no personal experience with it).

I was thinking about the AC tone one but decided to test the waters with these two first. These are dirt cheap so I'll definitely get it if the British and American work out.

I have no idea why I've never heard of Joyo before. Lol.

I should be playing around with the American tonight since Amazon has same day delivery on that one.

Hope you enjoy it. I don't know your background, preferences, style, guitar choices, or anything else, so for all I know you might think it's awful. :p
But I think it does a very good job for what it is. There's definitely much more of an actual amp feel and response from it that is lacking from a lot of preamp and even other amp emulation pedals and plugins. I'd miss it and probably spend ages trying to recreate it if I lost mine and couldn't get another. The level, EQ, and drive interact (as they should) and the voice control just adds something else (pretty much a continuous switcher between Fender emulations).

That's probably enough OT talk from me though.

MPC-X... Yeah. Ace. I like finger marks too. :D

Oh man. These things sound awesome! The American is definitely the better of the two, though the British has little more crunch as far as I can tell (didn't really play around with them too much). Definitely getting the AC Tone and the California for those prices why the hell not. The American will be permanent fixture on my pedal board for sure. I'm checking out some of their other stuff to see if it's any good.

    Thanks @Jay Wizard and @Mr36!

Awesome. I'm glad that worked for you. I might pick up the AC Tone myself. I have heard really great things about that one, some say it's the best of the bunch. Let me know how you like it.

I noticed they updated the site to remove the "instrument and mic" inputs. I guess they got your email, lol.

    Jah,

    One more question:

Can you comment on the effects/instruments in the Live? What AIR effects are onboard?

I wonder if there is any hope that the Live will be able to handle this kind of looping that this guy is doing with his Push:

Thanks so much for that. I wasn't aware that was in there. Haven't used an MPC since my MPC1K a number of years ago.
