2.0 has some changes...but nothing significant has been taken out.

It is exactly the same on the hardware. Same features in the software but with a new interface.

Dope. My Boss looper is going up on the auction. I am almost getting more excited for the MPC as a practice tool than for creating tracks (almost).

First thing I'm going to do is load it up with a bunch of jam tracks in different keys and time signatures. It will great to be able to look at my loops and analyze my timing.

Have you heard anything about anyone using a midi foot switch for using the looper in 1.8? I would also be interested in using a foot switch for recording audio (punch in/out, etc). I wonder if there are any 3rd party midi pedal options out there that could be integrated.

    Sounds like Akai as usual.

I'm still using an mpc60 sometimes and it's fine. Don't need no stinking touch screen.

No company is going to release a product when they feel it is not ready..Akai or otherwise. The current MPC models have everything you need to create music. The new models and 1.9 will not necessarily improve what anyone is doing now.....

That's why I've been saying that I want to see how people feel about it once it's released and the dust settles and the novelty wears off.

It will be no different than any major product release. Us guys/gals with strong opinions will heavily praise them or rip them apart...then things will be normalized after a few months.

The software for the hardware is in its final stages. Testing the current beta release now. Standalone mode doesn't suck IMO but looking forward to the feedback once the general public gets their hands on it. You pretty much get what you would expect from a hardware MPC minus some of my favorite features already mentioned in this thread (also missing in controller mode).

The MPC 2.0 software was indeed on display at NAMM 2017, I was there! (working at Spectrasonics Booth). Akai had an appointment-only booth on the second level.
As for midi clips....have you every heard of Ableton Live? Thats exactly what made it a huge hit...Before all the cool warping features and hardware, midi clips made it popular. Ableton and Bitwig hand midi and audio clips like no other DAW. How would I expect it to work? ANSWER: Just like audio clips.....which is just how the said DAWs do it.

I was in that room (not a booth) . I didn't need an appointment as I am a beta tester and had an Akai NAMM badge around my neck. I was there when Warren G was there....and I accompanied Masada when we brought Just Blaze up to that room.

What people got to see was the MPC-X and Live running the standalone version of 2.0. It was definitely not the MPC Software 2.0 that everyone has been waiting for.

The screen Lag when doing things looks super annoying, it would piss me off. Other than that looks promising.

Actually...the screen performance is no different than the touch screen on the Korg Kronos or an app on your iPad.

ableton live was popular as soon as it dropped, midi didn't even arrive until after ableton Live version 3, midi clips came in Live 4 if I'm not mistaken.

Your are correct. Ableton Love became significantly popular in version 4.

makes sense right, when your other half arrives you are complete, kind of like maschine became significantly more popular when people began to use it with ableton live
