I don't think anybody really knows at all. I read on a Youtube post that someone is claiming the X won't be available until the end of the year. There are rumors everywhere.

Jahrome how easy is it to access the resampling feature from the different modes, in particular the clip triggering mode?

Clip Tracks are re-sampled in the same manner as the other Track Types (Drum, Keygroups, etc). This is done in Sampler Mode:

    1. Enter Sampler Mode
    2. Set Input/output source (e.g., Resample L+ R and Stereo)
    3. Strike a Pad(s) to trigger clips
    4. Tap (Arm/Record)

I feel he is mostly full of himself. He is all over the place. The bottom line is do you.

Edit - if he is making heat as he implies by dissing other beat maker(s)...than 1.9 is all he needs. 2.0 will not improve his or anyone else's music.

He's right. I've said it before in this thread. I need another drum machine/sampler like I need a hole in my head. He calls it forming Voltron. I just call it gear lust. Every time something new comes out with some features that your current set up doesn't have, it's gonna make you want to find out about it just to see if you are really missing something or not. For me personally, the MPC X would bring absolutely nothing new. I don't need a standalone. Everything else it can do, I can achieve in software.

I liked his comments about the X and Live..."being demo'd and reviewed out" . Case and point this thread. 62 pages on NI's site about MPC gear that isn't even out yet with countless video links to demos, reviews...etc. I can't remember when a piece of music gear was this hyped up. I just hope Akai hasn't over-done it with the early hype on these things and they really can prove to their users that it was worth the wait. I've always said its their software that keeps me away, and look whats the hold up now.

Any takers on a bet that this thread reaches 75 pages by the time the new MPCs drop ?

That's why I never even considered the Ren, and I loved my MPC 3000 and the Ren looked so much like it. I don't trust Akai at all when it comes to software.

It has been 5 years since the MPC Ren has been released. Since then...the MPC Software has had a dozen updates. It is not possible to add many of the new features to the old hardware and to maintain an intuitive workflow. The MPC Ren/Studio uses an LCD designed 30 years ago.

So anyone suggesting that the new hardware doesn't bring anything new has never used any of the products being discussed.

as long as we keep this thread civil there's no reason why it shouldn't reach 100- 200 pages :D

I like most of this guys videos however-
I completely disagree with him on this topic though... the art of making music is such a very deep and personal aspect of any individual I always find it amusing when people think they have the blueprint to another persons creative process, it's just not possible as music creation is almost spiritual if not straight up spiritual for many, and the overly assumed assumption that folks don't make music with what they have because they are interested in improving products/tools or interested in something new that is coming out is just unfounded. Frankly I don't know why people tear down other people in the beatmaking community over the craft, and sometimes I wonder what do such people do when they walk into a recording studio and see all of the instruments there, do they think to themselves 'this studio is ridiculous there should not be anything in this room but one maschine, or one mpc, or.... insert whatever floats yer boat'.... when I walk into a studio and I see all of the different instruments it feels the same way to me as when I walk into a painters studio and see all of the different kinds of brushes, colors, different textured canvases etc.... it doesn't feel odd, or un-called for, it just feels natural to me. Of course I don't speak for everyone or every artist either but thats how I feel.

all companies have a history of bugs, some even go through complete rewrites to make things better and end up making things worse... whether it's akai or any other developer I don't worry about trusting them, I just make sure I can verify the instrument and get a refund if that's what I want to do.
