"so now that you've got all of that stuff can you record mutes and tempo changes without using logic"

...why should he want that when he has logic?...

Exactly. Lol the workflow is easier with mashine software. I really did not like the MPC software song mode. Too much work sometimes. MPC software is so buggy that you can create a track, load it up after you do a few more tracks and everything will be off beat or totally screwed up for no reason with that previous track. Smh.

I will give it a try. I don't work much with mutes anyway. I like to track everything separately to have control of everything individually.

I'm not sure if you've had the experience of using both logic and (not having to use logic)... but the two are not the same experience. That's the reason why, a better example would be me asking you why do you use maschine when you have Logic or any other daw because therein lies the same reasoning. Does this example provide more clarity?

I like to separate everything as well, before going into my daw and afterwards ... I'm hoping the new maschine development going on right now includes a feature like the 'explode tracks feature'

That I would definitely like. MPC software allows you to do this.

yep, it works even in stand alone mode. It's been indispensable for me, I don't even have the software installed on my computer.
I've requested this for maschine some years ago, we'll see if they get to it.

I'm working with the NI setup again on the desk and I like it, but the MPC Live definitely had a few things I wish Maschine would adopt. On that same note, the Maschine has a few things I wish the MPC would adopt - like the freedom to assign anything I wish to any pad I like!

The beef I have with akai -

Look at how maschine groups A-H can be any combo of samples, plugins, or sampled recordings in any combo you wish - or fx sends.

If the MPC live would have just allowed me to put whatever I wish on whichever pad I like, in any group, that would have been one show stopping unit. Why have 8 bank buttons if each new “program” starts on bank A & you can’t load synths to bank B with drums in bank A bc they’re on different programs?

Look at the toraiz GUI & look at maschine. If the MPC did THAT - a super simple, clean, organic, free-flowing way of letting the user organize and build (and then perform) the track, I’d have two of them.

I would have the X on my desk and the live on my DJ booth. Done.

I thought you might be talking about that, beathawk on iOS does the same thing.... the common denominator between maschine, beathawk, and the toraiz though is that their midi sequencers are all less capable to the point of it not being a fair comparison with the sequencing architecture of the mpc series. I agree that it would be very cool for the mpc to do this but there might be something that would suffer like the fluidity of the sequencer. As it stands now maschine is like a room that has several doors for entering but only a small cubby hole for an exit.... just an opinion though. For my taste it's the maschine fx that slay every mpc that ever existed, but imho everything else about the mpc is so pivotally more useful that it's easy to let that go if you're using external fx like I do.

It seems like the MPC is infinitely more capable- but I did not enjoy their program separation at ALL, and when attempting to use it on stage, it just frustrated me. Maschine kills it in the browse; sounds from komplete, and ability to aggregate thousands of patches from dozens of plugins with quick access and mappings like magic...

But at lower buffers it suffers. It isn’t as smooth with audio. It has no internal battery, no internal drive, no touch screen. Not standalone. No “bounce this track instantly to audio and freeze the midi channel” etc.

    Dang!

yep, no freeze pads, no explode tracks, no looper, and I've never seen any groove box in my life that bounced sequences to pads or samples as fast as the mpc live..... and all of these features were requested for maschine first! Daniel Haver must have been like forget about request ,put another shrimp on da friggin baaaarbieee

then again.... having such a nice touch screen display and a potentially great xy pad to control all of the wonderful fx that do not exist on the mpc makes me wanna yank out the touchscreen and throw it off the balcony:mad: The fx are so bad I simply don't use them.

Im hoping that InMusic just takes their sc5000 body and superimposes an MPC Live face, and uses software that runs like the toraiz or maschine.

    Can I get an amen?

I just wish their structure/architecture was less restrictive. If you watch any tutorials for the MPC and then for the Maschine, Ableton Push2 , or Toraiz (assuming the feature exists across the compared platforms) - the MPC tutorial always has more button pushes, more steps, more time.

In the interest of scientific experimentation, I am going to test drive the new Pioneer DJS-1000 for the winter as well. It's simple and quite limited, but it's extremely playable and it has pitch faders/nudge button so it'll line up with my dj rig perfectly, and manually, every time. At that point, my groovebox/DAW situation can be judged not on it's ability to be playable and production friendly, but just the latter. That may change things in my mind.

I'm telling you guys, InMusic has the hardware (MPC X/MPC LIVE) in house, as well as the Denon Prime units (SC5000) which are all MCS products. They only need to throw the MPC Live faceplate (pads, knobs) into the Denon Prime shell (right where the 8 pads and the platter live) and do a quick application which behaves like the Pioneer Toraiz/DJs-1000 software & they'll have a murderously fun little box that can... wait for it... Open in any other daw as a VST running through the controller (for when you want to expand the project on your computer).

    BOOM!
