i was looking for something that i could use in a multi effect box i am working on. that something is a way to switch the position of each one of three slots in the signal flow of the effects. there are three slots full of macros from the rb macro set and some from the factory. they are wired currently in series 1->2->3->to out, i want to be able to choose via button, list, menu, etc. where 1,2, and 3 fall. fast fx has the idea at the top a multipicture i think that shows the signal flow, but i dont want to copy that and break the eula. any suggestions thanks in advance. also i will include a copy of the ins, to the moderators is this type of upload have any moral legalities involved as its mostly others work.

It's admittedly a bit unfriendly, but the synth I'm making, Sound University, has arbitrary routing:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68801

Rather than decide the order of the modules (which implies serial connection) each module decides whether it's receiving from any of the others (and it can receive from more than one at a time), while a Final Mix decides whether it's listening to any of the modules (and it can listen to more than one at a time as well). Doing that allows for arbitrary parallel and serial connections. It's flexible, but the cost is that it's not obvious at a glance what's going on.

    well...

so i looked at your routing experiment jeff and would be interested to see where you end up with it. sowari i looked at the mentioned thread and ens. thanks. i came up with something that works, but the switches need to be hit in a certain order, ie as to not disrupt the signal flow to much i suppose, or make loops or something. any ideas. i think an empty version will be included with the upload so users can place their choice of macros into the slots. thanks for the help.

    UPDATE
I uploaded muti-macro effect unit to the UL, has a working routing system though I would like to refine it. enjoy and thanks for the assistance as usual...

hi joshua, i have downloaded you effect unit ... very nice :) and it is good to know that people are getting use out of this macros

i do think that it needs a Dry/Wet knob balance, because at the moment, we are only getting the Wet (effected signal) and no original signal.

i also think that people would like to hear how it works with an external signal. so i think you should give users the option of flicking between an external input and the internal (your synth) input.

i also notice that CPU levels are high, but that is the fault of the macros not you. but i can give some advice on reducing CPU if you want.

    nice one.

thanks for the help, again. i just uploaded a revision to include the suggestions you had, both very logical. in giving each of the 3 slots a mix fader i overlooked the master, how im not sure. the wiring was not intentional as for the filter, corrected also. now for the fun, lowering cpu, i would love any general tips as to how i can achieve less of a cpu load. that was the one trak experiment. i am not so good with the numbers so building from scratch is a little shaky. i am assuming general mistakes i am making over and over are contributing to the high cpu loads. attached is a little machine ive been working on since friday night when i meet mr dines roux. coolest machine ive made i think but wow cpu. the multieffect has to be expected to be heavy as it has a ton of things going on that are cpu heavy how can i lower this overall, hope this is not going too far off topic. thanks

    edit

oh and whats up with the volume faders being covered by a macro swatch?

    nice ensemble :)

i didn't notice any volume faders bing covered by a macro switch, could you do a screenshot to show what you mean.

btw, you can find out the CPU drain on certain macros by choosing Measure CPU Usage. then go into the structure and you will find which macros are using up all the energy. for you ensemble it is the (delay type) effects in each sample sequencer slot. i am not sure you can do much about reducing the CPU with those. whatever, it is a nice idea and works musically very nicely.

NB once you have finished measuring the CPU, remember to turn it off again, other wise you won't get any sound.

    figured it out thanks

the volume knobs are not part of each sequencer/sampler slot, they are in a mixer macro so the macro seems "buried" under each slots macro until you click where the volume knob is. thanks look to see it soon as i dont know what else to add. and thanks for the cpu tips, i was hoping i was making a glaring mistake somewhere in my building/modding style.

to solve this, take the Faders outside of the macro and create new inputs and connect those faders to the inputs.

this sort of thing is just a Reaktor niggly thing ;)
