That's a brilliant way of describing software development.
    And sadly accurate too.

    Cheap, small, portable, USB monitor.

Having just the FX panel between two Kontrol X1 with this thing would be great.

Especially since when you switch between FX the knobs don't correlate with the current on screen value. It's annoying/slowing to have to move my eyes from the controller to the screen.

Hi newby here, I have a 19" and a 22" on a desktop, I wanted the 19" for windows and the 22" for traktor, however with the 19" as primary, the second screen was limited to the res size of the primary. I might have found a work around for this. with the programme multimon you can add a taskbar to the second monitor. I am going to set the 22" as primary so I can maximize traktor to the full size, then with my new taskbar on my "secondary" which will really be my primary, I am going to drag all the desktop icons over there and this should work! Hopefully.

Also very new so cant post else where, if someone wants to tell me how to map a newmark stealth with a tsi file please PM me. Be gentle im new!

Depending on what video card you have you can also use either ATI or nVidias multimonitor software. nView is very well designed and the ATI software is simply dreadful and to be avoided unless you like to be permanently frustrated.
With nView you can place what you want where you want, full screen, part screen, entire desktop. Very easily. This is for the PC by the way.

Multimonitors on the Mac suck big time as the OS is so resticting and you cannot do full screen to entire desktop, only to a single monitor, the menu bar is fixed on one display [though not really an issue with Traktor] and is generally very frustrating and clumsy, compared to say using nView on PC.

That's an Apple limitation. You can do full screen across your entire desktop with a dual monitor PC.

Just realized what you meant by second part of that. You cannot even drag Traktor across both screens when it isn't in full screen mode, which is very strange.
So maybe it won't do full desktop on PC either, unless you can manually drag it across two screens on the PC. Never known software to be limited like this before. Though I had noticed in past that some DJ software tended to be fixed sizes due to the bitmapped interface and usually much smaller than my monitors and one of the reasons I never botherered with DJ software.
I hadn't realized this Traktor dual screen oddity as I have big monitors and only just wondered what Traktor would look like stretched across whole desktop. Also now I have a hardware controller for Ableton which also does Traktor, the mixer being split in middle is less of an issue.

How about if you could just use your second display to keep the Preferences Tab Open. I want to keep mine open b/c sometimes i need to go in and out of the Control Manager or Recorder Set Up or Layout Manager on the fly. Its a pain to have to use the mouse and click and wait for it to open. Anyone hav any suggestion?

    Dual Screen Support

    +1

I'm a retired DJ but I still mess around on my set up at home. I love the 4 deck option but it takes up most of the screen & you can't see much of the playlist. If you open the global then you seen even less. Is there anything in the works for an option to enable the deck & playlist to split screens? It would be so cool if I could have the play decks on one screen & playlist on the other.

No worries mate, it means adding your support to the request. It is an often requested feature, which frankly surprises me a little bit because I rarely see a DJ use 2 screens. I personally have the screen change to browser only mode when searching for tracks, and then automatically change back to deck view when loading to a deck.

I use dual screens at my job & I just love it. I'm not mobile anymore but still get on the tables everyday. I just would like to be able to see my full playlist when running 4 decks. I can right click & assign tracks to decks c & d without the play decks enabled allowing me to see more playlist selections. I'd rather have all 4 decks on one screen & my entire playlist on the other for home studio purposes only. At home I can cut loose & experiment.

If I do come out of hiatus & do the occassional gig then I use my laptop. I'll only run 2 decks at a gig anyway because that's all I really need. I might engage another deck just for sampling purposes once in awhile.

Thanks for your help with the plus one thing & your input.

    A workaround

Definitely a +1 from me for this feature/fix, although I have found a workaround.

I don't use 2 monitors for just normal DJing with 2 decks, but when doing live mashups with 4 decks it's nice to see 4 full decks, FX and browser without having to switch views all the time (would be great actually to see 6 full decks but that's another request ;) Contrary to previous comments, I've always found somewhere in the DJ booth to prop up a small 15" flat screen in addition to my laptop & MIDI controller.

The workaround I've found is to use an app called Netbook Resolution Customizer to resize my laptop screen to a really large virtual resolution (i.e. makes the screen area scroll when you move the mouse to the edge).

This then allows Traktor to be resized as big as this virtual resolution and so it can be stretched across both the monitor and the laptop display.

I really can't see why Traktor doesn't allow itself to be resized bigger than the primary monitor resolution anyway. Surely it would require only very minor change to the software to simply remove this restriction, and then we can all resize the Traktor window across as many monitors as we like!

Thanks Seb, just what we notebook users were looking for!

I too just found a different kind of of workaround. It is called GameOverlay. You can get a tranparent view of other windows on top of your full screen Traktor. They have a 30 day free trial. I haven't tried it yet (want to make a disc image backup before I try it) so if anyone beats me to it let us know how i tgoes.

"NRC does not support external monitor. "

So does NRC run on one monitor but the external one runs in native mode? Or does NRC stop one from using an external monitor at all?

NRC just resizes your netbook/laptop screen. An external monitor is unaffected and can be configured independently.

You just need to create a large (virtual) resolution for the primary display (the laptop screen) to fool Traktor into allowing its window to be resized that big.

Seems stupid Traktor doesn't just allow resizing anyway, but there you have it.

    +1 for me.

Having 4 decks + the browser on a 1600x900 LCD screen doesn't work that well. ...and upgrading from a notebook that did 1680x1050, kinda hurts also, so please allow the browser area to be modular so we can move it to another monitor.
