I'm sure there is a simple fix for this. I'm trying to get a multiple out (16-stereo) version of Komplete Kontrol plugin to function under Logic Pro X to set up my templates.

In my regular template I have multis set up for Kontakt, Omnisphere, Stylus and EW Play, so I'm quite familiar with the procedure. I get KK set up with the 16 tracks in Logic (add software instrument -> KK -> 16 stereo outs) with no issue, but can't seem to figure out how to assign the instruments from within KK. Where I'd usually have the different instrument slots available in Kontakt etc., there is still only one instrument slot in KK. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

please give a specific example - what are you loading intro KK?

you need to set it up in the patch you load into KK.

I 've a similar question: When I user Kontakt 5 with Logic Pro X - so I use it with multi output. In this way I use only one instance of Kontakt (do not overload Logic with too many instances of Kontakt). So far so good - it works fine. But now my question: When I start recording a song with several tracks - can I use more instances of Komplete in Logic?

Firstly KK is not really designed to work with Multis. If you simply want to play several sounds via the same Midi channel, that can be done but in a way there is no point as you will lose all the Light Guide and Controls. Practically you would probably need to put the keyboard into Midi Mode.

To make a multi using Kontakt instruments in KK, open your first patch in KK, then choose Edit View from the View menu this puts the display into a full Kontakt window and you can them browse and add Kontakt patches like Kontakt.

But personally you would be better off just using a Kontakt instance as this will force the keyboard into Midi Mode.

To me this is one thing poorly designed about the KK system:

    1. Having to use 1 instance per instrument

    2. CPU/Memory innefficiences once you stack many instances (at least for me in Logic)

    3. Comparatively longer load times in a project containing KK instances compared to Kontakt (with a large template this is quite a bit)

    1. Yes you can add many more instances of Kontakt.

    2. In Logic unless you have a lot of tracks, it best to use 1 instance per instrument to spread the CPU load as everything playing in one Kontakt instance will use just 1 core of your CPU. The only time this is not the best way is if you say have several articulations of an instrument (eg Violin Sustain, Tremolo, Staccato etc) and generally you only play notes on one track at any time.

PS The only drawback in Logic with Multi Timbral/Multi Output is that unlike 1 Track per instrument, you only get one proper channel with FX/Bus/Volume. If you want to individually process each instrument or automate it stick to 1 Track per instrument
