Would love to be able to tag 3 genres to one song for example:

    Song 1 = "D&B" "Reggae" "Banger"

So when in the middle of a drum and bass set i first search D&B and then get the further tags to refine my search like "Reggae" for a D&B tune with a heavy Reggae influence or "Rap" for a D&B tune with rap vocals etc .

i assume you're not asking for having three separate genre fields, right?

then go ahead, write them in the genre field, separating terms with commas. i do it that way.

Yes i mean 3 genre at the moment i do the same write them all in one genre but would be nice to have 3 genre tags and be able to filter using the three tags. So be able to select Genre "Hip-hop" + "Underground" to get underground hip-hop , then select Genres "hip-hop" and "uk" to get just UK hip-hop .

I was thinking this so that it would keep the genre browser tidy , as you dont end up with having hundreds of genres . You have tag 1 for the main genre and then sub genres.

ID3 v2.4 tags and Vorbis comments for flac support multiple genre and artist tags. The problem is Traktor not supporting them correctly. I hope to see an updated version of Traktor with full support for this. Means the artist/genre browser under my Collection will also sort correctly and show tracks tagged with UK and Hip-Hop under each category.

Currently Traktor reads all artists fields but does not separate them.

In case you still want this - please write tickets to NI! and if you feel like it, throw some +1s around in these:

    https://www.native-instruments.com/...-mapping-feature-requests-for-traktor.308717/

    https://support.native-instruments....-mapping-?_ga=1.41243749.653133270.1454410186

I really should have separated multi-value display & value mapping... oh well.
Interesting to see though how defensive and adamant NI Support is that it would constitute a new feature when it is a bug (imo) as Traktor is not capable of reading the container metadata as defined by the codec developers themselves of each format (i.e. mp3/flac - links to the documentation in each thread, highlighting the convention...).
    Churs.

As for the genre column, I think two values (genre, subgenre) will be enough, the rest of the characteristics are more suitable for the column with the name "associations" or "components".
That is, it should be possible to create additional columns in the tractor. Now I, like many, probably just use unused fields of other columns, but of course it doesn't look very nice

But that's the whole point of multi-value metadata support... You can add 2 values if it's enough for you, I can add 12 if I feel it's necessary (rarely... Or never probably... At a guess, the most genre tags a file has in my library is probably around 8 ish (due to redundant genealogy (sun & micro genre) tags (i.e drum & bass, halftime etc)).
And, someone with a single genre tag, this approach would work just as usual as well....

Absolutely no reason to dictate anyone a random number for this as to 'how many is enough' genres...

As far as I know, the standard in multi-genre tagging is "Genre 1\\Genre 2" in the Genre field, and from what I read elsewhere, Traktor now picks this up?

    Hi.
In short - the file spec for id3 (for mp3s) is a NUL character. Officially introduced in id3 2.4.
But, different programs can/do show this differently, as a NUL character is difficult to deal with from an end user point of view.
    So some can/do display this as //. But the most common 'stand in' character is a semicolon = ;
This is different for different metadata containers tho. Vorbis for example uses multi- field declarations.

As for readability in Traktor - Traktor always displayed these in some way. But, it was always treated as a single genre string, not as multiple Genres.... And that is the issue here as these should be standard...
