To the DFD/Kontakt Guru's out there...

When opening up a second instance of Kontakt, I always get a DFD memory error:

"Cannot allocate DFD memory (Not enough memory available!) Audio engine will be stopped."

I have tried everything I can think of but still can not run more than 1 Kontakt... I can add anything else on top of Kontakt, multiple versions of kompakt, RMX, atmosphere, etc but can't get 2 instances of Kontakt to run.... period. I have 2 gigs of ram in the machine. Windows reports there is plenty of ram left. I'm running Nuendo latest build. Any ideas or other DFD issues I'm not aware of?... I may have even missed something basic in my frustration.

I don't seem to have any of the CPU or memory issues that many people seem to experience, I just can't open more than 1 Kontakt....

    Big Thanks, Chuck

Hi, I just purchased Kontakt2 and am having a problem which developed suddenly where I cannot successfully add a second instrument into the rack. Is that what you are talking about? Forgive me, I just got the program and am still learning its particular nomenclature. In any case, its a baffling situation in a series of stupid problems that I have had from the beginning.

When I drag a second instrument into the rack, I am now unable to play that instrument. WHen I trigger the keyboard, the graphic keyboard within Kontakt holds each key down permanently and no sound comes forth. Charming. Hopefully a setting issue. But this problem developed in the middle of using Kontakt semi successfully, albeit shakily.

No, but I have experienced the same problem as you in regards to stuck keys, etc.... I need to load 2-3 instances of K2 to allow for 32-48+ midi channels. I was able to load and play back 7 instances of kompakt but bought K2 because I assumed it would be less problems & issues, more control.... HAHA

(although it works decently for very small projects)

also gotta love the manual............................. not

Buggy software. Doesn't work professionally. Poor tech support and lack of responsiveness to basic funtionality issues. Vst, dxi - all problematic. Can any musician afford to throw $500 away on software that doesn't work. Basic library/ sample file access and management issues causing host to crash with no dialog. Sucks. Can't even move or re-organize sample library or sequence files without losing capability to open file. Total waste of time. Lots of work lost. Thanks, NI, for wasting my time and money. Maybe NI wants to reimburse some of my clients for wasted studio time trying to get this unusable software to work professionally.

sgye, you need a reality check. You have gotten yourelf so far into this tyrade that it is making you look like a complete and total fool.

Is the $500 you paid for this product really worth the stress you are experiencing in your vendetta against NI?

ANGER MANAGEMENT! Take a bath and let it go.

Sell Kontakt2 and forget you ever owned it. You are hurting nobody more than yourself.

I'm not the one who posted the link to the BBB. That was another user here. I'm also not the one who's been writing all these open letters to the music magazines, and various other software companies. Why don;t you just mind your business. If anyone is looking like a fool, it's you - I would hardly call this a tirade. It's gotten me some attention from NI, as some of the other postings, including the BBB link and the open letters have gotten to those users. I don't know why you're reacting so much to my postings - maybe it's you who needs anger managament and a bath - what's up with all that? I'm talking about the software? You should chill, my friend - what are you a fr*gg*n shareholder? I'd call your broker and bail, if that's the case.

I just want responsiveness and accountability. : )

And, yes, it is worth it. The sounds are great. Now all NI has to do is fr*gg*n make the SOFTWARE WORK AND CONSIDER THEIR CUSTOMERS, WHO ARE THE ONES PAYING THEIR SALARIES. : )
