    Hello,

I'm hopelessly confused about how multiple outs work in Pro Tools 6.7 from Kontakt 2. In Pro Tools, I have the following:

1 aux track with Kontakt 2 on an insert
1 aux track trying to get audio back from other channels in Kontakt

Th input selection on the second aux track shows plugin inputs "Kont 04", "Kont 06", "Kont 08", "Kont 10", "Kont 12", "Kont 14" and "Kont 16". What are these?

In Kontakt, if I set up multiple virtual outputs and hit "conf", all I get is "1 - plugin output", "2 - plugin output", "3 - plugin output", "4 - plugin output" and "not connected". Why only 4 plugin outputs?

For some reason I thought I'd be able to bring up 16 or 32 mono instruments in Kontakt and route them to individual aux tracks in Pro Tools. Can't see how this is possible with what I'm seeing above.

What am I missing? By the way, this is PT LE 6.7 on a dual 2.5 G5 on 10.3.7.

    Thanks,

    Jason

No, dfloyd, I don't know what you're saying. The K2 PDF manual doesn't give any details about working in Pro Tools, nor does it explain why I only see 4 physical outputs in ProTools. And the info in the knowledge base posted by NI doesn't agree with what I'm seeing in PT. Further, no one else in the forum seems to have given a satisfactory explanation.

If you'd kindly point me to the proper reading material, I'd be happy to stop wasting your time.

    Regards,

    Jason

You're on the right track. The "Kont 04", etc. are the stereo outs that you can later map in Kontakt. They're even numbered because you inserted stereo aux tracks. You'd see the odd numbers if you had a mono aux.

The reason you only see 4 outputs available in Kontakt is because they only show up after you've assigned them to an aux input. You had 2 stereo aux tracks, so you saw 4 outputs in Kontakt. If you add more aux tracks and map the inputs, you'll see the additional outputs show up in Kontakt.

Thanks, JP. That makes sense. I wasn't understanding that you had to both create AND assign auxes in PT first, before setting up the mappings in PT. What is still confusing is that in PT I see available inputs Kont 04.L, Kont04.R -> Kont16.L, Kont16.R and that these correspond to "plugin output 1" - > "plugin output 16" in the "configure" dialog in Kontakt. Not sure why the names aren't consistent on both sides.

Anyway, thanks very much for the help. It all seems to make sense now.

    Best regards,

    Jason

PS - You wouldn't happen to know how get my auxes back in Kontakt, would you? I deleted them in the outputs section when I was monkeying around with this stuff and can't figure out how to get aux 1-4 masters back! Thanks...
