Here's another one for you. I did a search and couldn't find anything that helped me.

I'm using the 'studio collection' version of battery. i want to be able to send 8 different sounds (cells) to 8 tracks in my Pro Tools session (to print or monitor with plug-ins).

    1. how do i set up battery to do this?

    2. what inputs on my pro tools tracks do i select to correspond with the 8 outputs i've selected in battery?

Basically I'm asking for someone to walk me through this. I can't find anything anywhere about doing this in Pro Tools. What I ultimately want to accomplish is to be able to print several sounds from Battery to Pro Tools tracks during 1 pass of the song. Right now i have to print either 1 or 2 things at a time (depending on whether it's mono or stereo). Obviously this is SOOOOOOOOO time consuming.

    Thanks in advance...

P.S. Chris... is there a way to order some sort of manual on the 'studio collection' that covers all of these things directly related to using these rtas versions in pro tools?????

Well I ain´t got Batter PTE so I some hints:
    1. RTFM
    2. ask that question in the PTE newsgroup
    3. In Battery there is on the low right corner the output assigner, where you
can adjust the output chan. for the SELECTED cells. You also may try to use BUSSES to send the audio to different tracks.
    4. ask tech support

WHOOPS I found out that Battery PTE doesn´t seem to support busses or output to other tracks.
This is a fault you should contact NI about!!!
The only possible way seems to be multible instances at this time of history.

and don´t forget to add this in the battery features list (hopefully you will get heard)

    sorry,

    I cannot belive it!

    This can't be right!

What is the point of developping an RTAS version of Battery for Pro Tools if it does'nt support multiple outs...

I am facing the same problem, but there has to be a solution, where dit you get the info that there is no "buss support"?

Try assigning output to a bus! You can´t find one! you can only select "real" audio
ports, if I get this thing right.

YES leaving out BUSSES is a MAJOR mistake!!!

    WHAT? NO MULT. OUTS???

Well, first off, i have been trying to tackle this problem for about 6 hours..and have read the thread... this is a travesty.... anyone that is doing any type of commerically viable music needs control over each and every drum sound by way of eq and effect. PERIOD. the only only only work around i have myself is to do a merged drum loop 1 bar...then mute everything else and make audio loops and bring them back in....this is not horrible..but it IS time consuming. ALSO, i have found NO way to separate midi notes to different tracks..HECK EVEN DR. T'S ON THE ATARI 520 LET YOU DO THAT!!! someone guide me.....please tell me there is a different way to do all this.... any help would be SO appreciated....... thanks alll......!!! email me also at rick@twilight76.com

To select seperate MIDI notes just select teh Grabber tool only. A crosshair cursor should appear in the MIDI track. This way you can select notes on an horizontal line, which is what you may intenet to to on drum tracks.
But you don´t have to split for multitrack recording. All instances may recieve at the same channel, as long as the assigned notes don´t overlap.
In fact a single MIDI track might lessen the CPU load, if ever so slightly.
Just use multiple Instances on different tracks and load you kits. For saving RAM you can delete the unused cells. Hit record and get them all at once.

BTW. ProTools is a Postproduction tool mainly, not a MIDI Sequencer with attached audio.

PS: Nice gesture to change you email during correspondes.

    how bout logic

so in essence logic may simply be a better route to go to get separate drum programs instead of pro tools?

    thanks

Possibly, PT is just stable and straight forward .
For MIDI madness you may try logic.. and get lost in its features:)

perhaps it suits your needs better.
    Mine it does not.

Protools RTAS doesn't support multi outs. It can't be done. However if you want to be able to do this you can use the FXpansion VST-Rewire which will provide Multi outs in a VST Battery running through Protools Rewire via the FXpansion wrapper.

There is also some sort of Rewire Host/synth called "Plogue" that can do this but I had not the time to work it out.

If you want multiple out in PT, get this:

www.plogue.com RewireHost for VST/AU Instruments and much more for OSX and XP.

This is the NEXT BIG THING!!!!!

    GET HIGHLY RECOMMEDED!!!!!
