Please add the ability for MUTE to work on long one shot audio phrases. Also, when a sequence comprised of long one shot audio phrases is stopped, I would like the sounds to stop playing. This is an function that you add to Maschine's preferences.

If you want a trick to mute a oneshot sample you can do this:
    - Record or import a sample with no sound (silence)
    - Put it in the same group of your long oneshot sample
    - Put both in the same choke group
    - When you want the oneshot sample to stop just hit the "silent" pad

You can use any sample. Just turn down its level to -INF dB. ;)

Awesome....suggestions for user tricks and workarounds. But there is more to my suggestion.

Option 1: What I am suggesting is that MUTE should work by telling the sample to play a volume of 0 db. Using this method, the sample is still actually playing. Press a pad a second time will un-MUTE or return the sample to its previous volume of xx db. This way you can duplicate what DJs do with turntables such as beat juggling.

Option 2: Pressing MUTE will send a note off message to a given pad as what happens when you use a sample to cut off another sample in the same choke group.

    NI, please make this happen.

I think what Jahrome is saying is he wants to "silence" the sample, but be able to bring it back in without having to start it over from the beginning of the sample. I definitely see how this could be useful for long samples and performance.

I'd like to see them implement both...we need a shut off button that will stop the sample, but for those who'd like the sample to keep playing, that would work nicely too.

yeah there is another thread about actually just stopping a sample, I think that's why he started this one as it's a bit different in what is being accomplished.

Option 3: As NI starts to add more MIDI functions, there will be a need to quickly stop all MIDI notes especially when sequencing external gear. When you send too much information to a MIDI device, the notes can become "stuck." So you will need a "panic" button to turn off the MIDI notes.

Option 4: If you accidently trigger multiple long one-shot samples, there isn't a way to quickly turn all the sounds off. They will keep playing to the end.

    Try the Audio Engine Button.

That audio engine button is not the solution for what I am describing. It only turns off the volume but doesn't stop anything from playing.

    Ah, you're right. My mistake.

Good suggestion for an additional mute behavior of 0 volume. I say additional because I prefer the way it works currently. It allows your notes to decay naturally when muting and is great for muting real instruments and midi.

However, the current way is no good for long samples. What is needed is an additional mixer based mute. This way, you can mute a long sample and bring it back in without having to wait for it to loop around again. Button 2 on the mute screen would toggle between "volume" and the current behavior.

Pad volume and pan automation should also be added as a modulator too along with ability to assign to macro. Edit: Duh! volume and pan automation is there just not for midi out.

Don't like the idea of sending note offs though. If they do there should be an option in preference like MPC's "immediate" or "as played" option.

+1 for a midi panic too.
