well maschine can send midi cc, but can the sw recieve midi datas from other ordinary controller, like the BCR? (or from the kore controller, if NI the long long long long promised midi-feature implemented, in maybe 2011 or so-(

i need DIRECT-ACCES to many paramters AT THE SAME TIME, e.g. kick-FX1 dry/wet AND snare decay AND bass cutoff AND mute group-FX2 AND AND AND...
only with maschine and its 8 knobs it isnt possible.

    2.
    8 groups a 16 sounds a 2 FX = 128sounds + 256FX + the group/master FX.
sounds giganticly, but how many can we use practically? i know the cpu-friendly ;-) NI-coding -- can we load more than 10 sounds and 5 FX simultan without any cracless on an actually notebook?
(btw: i guess the inactive groups are switch bypass - but i afraid its like in kore: the awaking "bank" will under circumtnces cracle or even blueescreen, dont they?)

plz give a "benchmark" how many sounds/fx are on a 2GHz intel core possible.
(sound means dry sample and of course each fx are different hungry, so how many needs 10 instances of ice or 10 instanzes of verb... if the engine at all fits so "much")

    3.
the libary is for me one the importenst reasons to buy or not.
5gigs ands 200 kits and sounds sounds great, but only 20 projects sounds a little bit poor.
are the kits at a red-line-syntax "mapped" like main-kick, main-snare, HH, etc. in evry kit at the same pad - or have i manually to remap evry kit to use it "out of the box"?
is there a bit more of different kits/drums and melodic pieces wich fits together? is there a categorized content like A-major, or somethink equal? possible to load midi-files?

next qeustions are not so elementary:

hw recommends say somethink about 2GB RAM.
my actually notebook has 2,4 GhZ but only 1 GB RAM - will maschine although starts and run (untill buffer-error) or will it not even starts?

for meldodic-fools like me - is there an integreted scale-correction? can i use the 16 pads as 2 octave keyboar in a majar-scale and evry pad plays a "correct" note?

    1. no not at the moment.

    2. some of the demos are really busy in terms of Groups with Sounds and fx. they sound good. they have more than 10 Sounds and 5 simultaneous fx. it is difficult to do exact numbers seeing as the more crash ride and cymbals you use with busy parts the more CPU you use.
so it does not just depend on Reverbs

    3. 20 projects seems a lot to me ;) plus all the kits have some patterns to get you started, that is 300 kits!

you play the kits from the Hardware Controller NOT a MIDI Keyboard. and sequence them using the Sequencers inside Maschine not from outside.

there is no Key category and no way (at the moment) to load MIDI Files.

my Macbook only has 1 gig of Ram, so far i have not had problems.

the 16 Pads (when used with Maschine SW) are in Semitones. there is a Note offset so you can choose which note you start off with.

fwiw, when using the Hardware Controller with other Software, you can programme a different note for every Pad. and you can play the pads over a number of octaves using the Group Buttons to change the octaves.

    much thx for reply

if i dont knew NI, i wouldnt believe it. but i know, that NI is a funny companie, which "concepted" their tools exactly at the target group away. so it makes me no wonder, that such an elemantary thing isnt possible.
and that i can use my iphone, my notebooktrackpad or my webcam - hey: their slogan is the future of sound, not the futur of ergonomic or workflow or fun.

    2.
well sowari, nice spoken at the hot meal around;) i read this one: it has the same "efficences" as the other NI products. its a cpu-pig.

    3.
whats about melodic phrases? are there some inside? 60% of groovebox buyers are melodical idiots and they buy this cases about their pattern inside. me too.

well, scale correction, arpeggieators, phrasegenerators or other helpers/automators are standard in 5years old sold-out boxes. of course that such ordinary things dont fit in an overambitioned and pseudoprofessionell NI product. at NI musicans has to be musicans, even if they only want to play a little bit groovebox.

my fazit: the hw looks nice and solid, the lib is maybe fantastic, the organize of content is great, but the rest, ecspalliy the fun-factor and useness and ergonomic is typically NI unfortunatly died at the half way. the first groovebox wich comes without any innovations.
but thx for answer: i guess it better for me to save my money and invested it in a musical school, maybe after 1year keyboardlessions i have the skills and the dicipline to work with a NI groovebox.

    Re: Fun -

i have not had so much fun using technology to make music for a long time.

Re: Melodic Phrases, there are loads and loads in the Projects. i will will make some for you, if you pay me ;) Buts seriously all the Guitar Loops are melodic and/riff based.

Btw, if you live in London you could take some lessons from me :)

I'll echo Phil about the fun part. Furthermore, my productivity's increased dramatically as well, because it's so quick and easy to get my percussion parts down.
