My thoughts on the latest update...

ok, I dj regularly, at least once a week. My setup is the Z1 and the latest version of TraktorDJ. I have the latest iPad Air running the latest iOS. Here's what I have noticed....

TraktorDJ used to keep a listing of the tracks I play in a set, most of my sets are 3-4hrs, so this feature was very useful! Now, in the latest update, it would seem that this feature stops working after about 5-6 tracks.

I try and keep my music files organised and only sync the playlists that I need for the gig, but for some reason, even if I remove the playlist from the iPad, that track will still appear in the TraktorDJ library. I've reset the iPad many times but this makes no difference, the tracks still appear in TraktorDJ. It's quite frustrating because the playlist itself no longer appears in TraktorDJ and the tracks and playlist are no longer in iTunes on the iPad, so why is is still happening?

deleting the app and reinstalling it would not be an option as I would have to setup the cue points again.

One further thing I noticed from the latest update is that the beat matching analysis seems to be inaccurate. A track that was once perfectly sync'd with the beat grid has now slipped or stretched a little, meaning I have to go through the process again. It's not a major issue for me as I generally beat match manually but it does knock my confidence in the usability of the setup I have.

So 3 points of note, none of them complete disasters for me, but it does give me concern that the developers aren't really focusing on the app and are maybe just throwing out updates for the sake of trying to make more money from new users rather than listening to and working with existing users.

I have over 20 years experience of DJing, from turntables, CDJs, laptop, controllers, ect... You could say I am an old dog trying to learn new tricks and I do see a future in the minimalist setup that the iPad and Z1 gives me but I do worry if NI actually sees it as a serious option for professional DJing?

Oh you can be sure that the developers have all but given up on Traktor Dj. It really seems that Native Instruments from actions, the tone and word choice in customer service interactions, would clearly point to the conclusion that N.I. views Traktor Dj as a nuance and a drain on resources and profits from Traktor Pro.

I haven't noticed any beat grid changes, but I have to say the beat grid algorithm is far better on iOS than it is in the Pro version. Tracks that require major work in the pro version are perfect in the iOS version. I have noticed that Traktor DJ has become more and more skippy with each new update. That could be due to older iPad on my part. New one to be bought asap, due to someone smashing mine beyond usability. I've had to go back to Traktor Pro and can i tell you I hate how skippy the newest versions are, and how god awful the beat grid engine is.

I also have not noticed that my history stops after a few tracks. Mine seems to work for hours.

I hate the way if you have recordings that you did not transfer to your computer through iTunes before you update Traktor Dj. Your recordings will be lost. I lost a bout 12 recordings this last update because the app store app automatically updated apps. Much hate was had the next morning when I woke up.

Question have you maybe heard if the new S8 and D2 have Traktor DJ intergration. I can't find any info on that anywhere. Which is another reason I suspect that N. I. has all but abandoned Traktor Dj
