Here are some new features I would like to see in the next guitar rig:

    1) Authentic Expression Technology (AET) from Kontakt:

This would enable the user to transform the spectral characteristics of his or her guitar (i.e., from a les paul sound to a strat sound to maybe even a sitar or a banjo) without buying other guitars or instruments.

    2) VST and AU support:

Peavey's Revalver mkIII has, so why shouldn't NI.

    3) Audio to MIDI Conversion Built-In

In conjuction with VST and AU plugins, this would also enable players to play software synths and samplers.

    4) Fretboard Mapping

This feature would work with request #3, allowing users to map sounds to different pitches such as a heavy mesa boogie sound for the lower notes and a searing lead for the higher ones.

    ...and finally

    5) Switching between Sound via Rig Kontrol

Similar to Line 6's Vetta amplifier, one could switch between several completely different sounds and rig setups via the Rig Kontrol hardware (or any other MIDI hardware for that matter)

+4 for points 1 through 4, but I don't understand how #5 is different from changing prests with the rig kontrol. can't that be done now?

I guess you are right about number 5 on this one. I was originally thinking stomping button 1 for leads and button 2 for riffs and stuff like that, but I guess you could modify that simply with the MIDI utility.

    i'm with mrzosonp on #1 thru #5.

Guitar Rig Kontrol is still not up to the task of replacing my current rig: FCB 1010 MIDI pedal controlling TC electronic G Force which uses old 8-bit PCMCIA cards for backup.

The combination of GR software and my laptop represent about 100x more computing power and capacity than my archaic live setup, but somehow it underperforms...that is, when it performs.

    Sorry. Incredibly frustrating.

A massive +1. This to my mind is the biggest serious omission in GR4, which I otherwise love.

I have a whole bunch of VST effects (including custom ones) that I want to use in the middle of the GR effect flow. The only option right now is to run GR4 in a VST host, but all you can do then is pre-effect the raw input or else the fully-processed output. That's not good enough, and it would also be much better if you could save your 3rd-party effect setups as part of the preset.

I really hope NI are planning this as it's more important to me than any other new feature.
