Massive's sound and creative potential is just as its name implies. Even though I think it is already titanic sonically, I could still see some improvements:

    1) More Oscillation Options

I liked the comment one user made about chaining the oscillators together, which would obviously produce superb results. In fact, there should be ways to add oscillators and more ways to configure them. Why not also make the oscillation modes freely definable like they are in Absynth? In my post "Six feature requests for Absynth 6" I talk about an idea for audio oscillation modes that could also work in Massive.

    2) Momentary Performance Modulation/Effects

Similar to the KORG KAOSS PADS, these effects would be activated as long as the user would interact with that particular control. This could apply to not only effects but every knob and parameter in the entire synth.

    3) More Massive Effects (In More Ways than One)

Not only could NI add effects like convolution reverb, grain delays, and other effects to make Massive sound more ginormous, but they should also expand upon existing effects and let the user add more effects to the chain in more places at once.

Other than that, I cannot think of anything else.

Of all the synths in my Komplete 6 bundle, Massive has impressed me least so far. Absynth I find full of interesting sounds, not sure how I'd use most of them but it seems to have potential. Reaktor definitely does some cool stuff so I yearn for a printed manual to start mastering that. But Massive just seems to suck in CPU and spit out generic VA synth noises.

With such a long list of patches (seemingly not arranged or named informatively), could anyone point me to any they find good/classy/interesting? I've auditioned loads of them so far but as I've not found anything that grabs me, figured I must be missing something obvious. Any type, any genre, just want something that shows the CPU is being well spent...

These were my thoughts on massive when i got it a while ago as part of komplete 5... but I think in general there are some good loops and stuff already built into massive, not sure on names as I don't have it installed on this computer... What made me realise massive was a good synth in the end was that it was one of the best laid out software synths i have ever used, once you get to know the controls and commands you will be able to create some very good patches of your own, which in the end is what makes the music truly your own. Consequently massive is my favourite synth, with reaktor at a close second. I do admit that the synth is very cpu intensive I can usually only load one instance onits highest quality with a few voices, to save CPU set massive to eco mode. If you are going to use it for one particular sound I would use it for pad sounds, but that's just me as I know absynth offers some amazing sounds of its own.

A good idea for massive 2 if there will ever be one would be to make it less cpu intensive, that would be a first.

And for a second, some included patches that are named so you can guess what they sound like and don't sound crap. :)
Agree about the personal patches thing but for my own music I use hardware. My Mac is for commercial music which means it has to be fast, you grab stuff that sounds good and work with it. Thank heavens for the many, many inspiring patches, all beautifully categorised and named, in Omnisphere.

    Hi,

these banks are nice : http://www.nucleus-soundlab.com/databankone.htm

    For improvements, I would see:

1 - a possible numerical control of parameters (LFO frequency) when those are not synced. It looks like it is possible when you put Massive within Kore but I do not own Kore. These numerical values would help setting up very specific sounds for more frequency modulation for instance.

2 - import your own wavetables (not the most important request)

3 - offering a Massive FX (like FM8 FX of Absynth FX) that could be used one sounds coming from other synths.

Anyway, is Massive 2 expected soon.

As a comment, I mainly use Massive for sequence and rythmic stuff more than pads, so far...

For the record, that's the most important request in this thread so far from my POV.

I really like the idea of importing your own wavetables. I'm not sure how it would be done, but it's a needed feature nonetheless. Maybe NI could even implement some sort of image based oscillation like in Camel Audio's Alchemy or U&I's Metasynth, enabling wavetables to be generated from Pixels!

However, I am not so sure about the Massive Effects section by itself. I can imagine Absynth doing that since its effects are really abstract in design. Massive, on the other hand, seems like it could be emulated way too easily to be original.

+1 I can always use more effects.

They were all sadly ordinary, stuff I could've done myself in minutes if I was equally uninspired... :(
