Solved My X1 Mk2 reports firmware version 16 whereas NI current version is 11

    I bought a used Kontrol X1 Mk2 yesterday and have not tested it yet because my Traktor Pro 3 will be coming in with my just ordered S3.

    Meanwhile, I ran Device Updater (DU) 1.7.0 on my MacBook Pro 2017 running macOS Catalina 10.15.5 to check for the latest firmware update. It reported that the firmware version in my X1 Mk2 is 16 whereas the current version the DU has is 11.

    So I am confused: my firmware seems to be much later than the current.

    Under the USB section in macOS System Information (SI), it listed my X1 Mk2 has version 10.

    Is it possible that DU v1.7.0 is reading the version reported in SI as 0x10 (hexadecimal, or 16 decimal)? If it is, perhaps a bug with DU?

    Meanwhile, is it possible to force DU to (over)write the firmware it has for my X1 Mk2 to v11?

    A few hours later, I manage to borrow a Windows-based mobile computer and install both the Traktor Device Driver and DU, and DU for Windows reports the exact same versions as DU for macOS.

    Support has replied: Traktor Kontrol X1 Mk2 firmware version 16 was factory-set for only one particular production batch because NI had to modify components for that batch. Other than that, there is no difference in functionality between firmware versions 11 and 16.
