and the american audio VMS6 that will destroy the MC7000 and DDJ-RX + controllers with superior internal routing and a full hardware mixer with 48,000hz soundcards

and send me a free one

explode the VMS into a "full size" controller with performance pads, and it will drop like the gravity of the sun down onto a ant as far as the DDJ-RX is concerned

Well.. Unlike previous namm shows, NI is hosting an event- Native Summit. Whatever that means.. And they just received 60 Mil. investment! Traktor is loosing a lot of ground, especially in the past year. And NI know this full well. Hopefully they will do something about it to change it!

After searching about info on a traktor update I found this:
    djtechtools.com/2018/01/05/future-dj-software-demix-finished-tracks-playable-stems/

    From DJ TechTools:
"Every week, we hear from DJs who want to know “Is a new version of Traktor coming out soon?” Besides minor bug fixes, it’s been a while since a major update. We don’t know what Native Instruments is developing, but we have a very good clue at what could be next from NI based on their sponsorship of a scientific community project. It’s called SiSEC – Signal Separation Evaluation Campaign. One of goals of this project is to divide completed audio tracks back into stem tracks using just a computer algorithm."

It seems like NI hired a new director of dj products recently to. So it's quite possible there's something going on, however we will never know for sure until a proper update sees the light of day. It's just a shame NI isn't communicating about anything. If only they would just be a little more communicative about the development of Traktor. Not communicating anything seems like something you would do while (possibly) abandoning a product, while still attracting unknowing customers. I don't think that's the case here but since there's no communication, it's all uncertain.

    http://djtechtools.com/2018/01/17/native-instruments-launches-sounds-com-loops-samples-library/

Focus on the last part of the article:

"Native Instruments has announced that they will be present in a way at NAMM next week, holding their own Native Summit (with a still-unannounced agenda). A big part of it might be discussing this new platform – but perhaps there’s more to come? Stay tuned to DJTT for full coverage."

The article on DJTT was written on 17.01.2018, which means that NI is going to announce something this week, maybe tomorrow, maybe on friday. Hopefully, it is not that SiSEC Project, which means Stem Transformation in both directions, from track to stem and from stem to track (so far I understood the tool).

So this week, all our dreams may come true and I am curious about your thoughts and ideas for what could be announced at NAMMs 2018 NI Event (please feel free to answer all kind of opinions, quotes or speculations to my post :)

    Sky is the limit boys.

Ah an unannounced Native Summit, interesting! Hopefully not about Sounds.com but that would seem unlikely since they've already announced it. Traktor seems quite possible since they've been so silent about it, NAMM would be perfect to make some big announcements.

I quite liked the idea of being able to make stems from every track. Hopefully there would be some changes in the way stems are implemented so they could be used for more traditional djing with separated tracks. Enabling you to make longer and more precise mixes.

I really wouldn't like Traktor to turn into a hybrid of DAW and Maschine though. If I want to do live production I'd rather use Ableton.

As for actual new updates I've got no clue. NI might do some improvements like retina graphics (actually something I would really like, just because I like things which look nice) or other small things. And possibly announce something bigger which could be video, lighting or the stems thing. We'll probably still have to wait though, NI just started hiring new people and got the investment a little while ago.

its not hard to work out, SiSEC – Signal Separation Evaluation Campaign. waste of money, you can't beat the universes

www.sonicvisualiser.org obviously used for singling out frequencies in satellite recordings and seti audio recorded from space, which you can kind of tell buy the funding backers and plugins it has

Possibly, but hopefully not :( If they stop developing they should make it open source, just assign some people of the original software team as maintainers. Than it would still have a chance to survive or become a part of another open source dj program.

Has there been any real indication from NI that the investment they've received is going towards a DJ focused software? Or are things heading more towards mix production/music production? I really hope they don't scrap the 'live' software like TSP2. They've already discontinued the A10... Fingers crossed they don't ditch the lot!

As far as I can see Sonic Visualiser does what it name says, visualise sonic content. It has nothing to do with SiSEC, or signal separation. Besides Sonic Visualiser is distributed under a GPL license. Which as far as I know does allow GPL software to be used in commercial software, but requires the source code to be open source if you would use GPL software in your commercial program. Mentioned here: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.en.html#GPLCommercially

Some little hints which i've described here: https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/traktor-update-whats-going-on-at-ni.324566/ But nothing conclusive.

Actually now that I think of it, it might be really cool to opensource Traktor. Letting NI focus on the hardware development and letting the public work on the software.

Ah that's a shame we've not heard anything major... However NI have a tendency to keep hush about things (or maybe that's my wishful thinking...).

I like that opensourcing idea. Would love to see what cool features would be added. Having said that, I personally like the versatility Traktor has at the moment. It allows for quick setting changes, and decent customisation, and good stability, so no complaints there. Just wish they'd fix the browser & screen resolution!

I hope it's not wishful thinking. The versatility of Traktor is really nice indeed, Traktor also has a really nice stable basis for simple basic DJing. I wouldn't want to see big chances regarding the basis. However refinements wouldn't be bad at all. The browser and resolution would be a good place to start. In my opinion NI doesn't even have to make big technological breakthroughs or anything.

I've got a todo-app called Things which doesn't do a lot, it's quite basic really. But it has exactly enough features, not that interesting. However it's a really really good app. Why? Because every basic function is perfect, keybindings make perfect sense, the graphics are clear and indicative of their functions, the graphics are distinctive but fit perfectly into Mac OS and Things guides you into habits of using the program. It all makes sense.

I would love it if NI would take some clues from Things in the development of Traktor.
