It was literally posted in this thread that NI was openly inviting people for Traktor research via Facebook. It was limited to Berlin, London and Los Angeles because there were in-person interviews.

There's probably a medical or psychological term for people that never believe anything positive that is told to them despite the overwhelming evidence that it's true. *sigh*

So why devs are hiding from this forum then? Why they don't come out and say they are working on the next version of Traktor(like they do on Maschine)? Why there is not a "Florian" over here to comment on things and discuss what's next?

Here unfortunately there is just a "Karlos", an individual that quickly dismiss opinions he doesn't like and wants people to believe whatever he says..

I owned all Traktor controllers since the original S4. I invest a great deal of money and time in this platform. As a customer I have the right to know if they platform is dead or alive.

All indicators are that they are working on something.
So the platform is not dead as such. Also, some people do use it to this day....
Alas, I have not used my traktor gear for ~2 years now, thanks to the stand-still, buggy releases, bad communication from NI and multiple bugs that are confirmed by NI support, but it was also confirmed that these would not get fixed anytime soon, which was the nail in the coffin for me for Traktor as is.
So at this point, and until they actually release something, which based on NI's treatement of Traktor and the community could be any time between now an 5-10 years - so I would not hold my breath. If you need to move on, move on, it's NI's loss,

Because they have better things to do than argue with people on here. I can't imagine the crap they would get from some people on here - it would be relentless. I wouldn't wish that on them - I'm happy to be the flack jacket.
There isn't a long standing member of this forum that will agree with that description of me so you won't get away with that dude.
I've said it many times, opinion is fine, outright lies are not. What's worse is when a member shares some great news and you call him a liar - that's pretty low man.
For a moderator I've been a pretty harsh critic of NI over the years - I'm not here to be a brown nose but I will address people when they go out their way to persistently talk NI down if it's unfair.
I don't know how many times I've told you the answer to that - it seems you'll only be happy when I tell you Traktor is dead in the water and that's simply not gonna happen.

Developers are not paid to sit around on forums answering questions. Florian is on the Product team, so it makes sense for them to lay out the product roadmap. I don't think the Traktor team even knows what a roadmap is anymore.

According to their job openings they use Scrum, which means they are supposed to sit down every two weeks and figure out what they will deliver in the next two weeks, whether it be bug fixes, new features, or even just part of a new feature. The fact that they can't manage to release an update every few months is mind-boggling to me.

He only dismisses opinions that are presented as fact, such as this post. Karlos has stated many times that the lack of updates and communication from the Traktor team is tiring. Everyone here agrees on that. But there are indicators that Traktor 2 is not dead.

When reading the Traktor 2.11.1 release notes you would think it was only a minor update and that Traktor development is very much stagnant. But the beta release notes painted a different picture:
No sane company would spend time upgrading the code for a product that is either dead or going to be rewritten soon.

Also, it's completely fine to switch to other DJ software if you're tired of the lack of updates and communication. But meanwhile I read plenty of posts on the Pioneer forum about Rekordbox DJ crashing during gigs. I can easily get Rekordbox to crash in export mode with certain actions. They release minor updates which randomly break existing features. I filed 4 bug reports in February and haven't received a single response. So I can't say that the grass is greener on the other side.

    Can't agree with that statement.
You should go visit some other manufacturer's forums and see how these forums are being "moderated" (aka censored).

    True.
Almost every major company in the industry seems to have technical issues to some degree.

NI has never been open about updates to Traktor in the fourm that I can remember and I don't expect them to change that anytime soon.

What I would like to see is them opening up Traktor's communication protocol to work with other hardware other than their own.

Or at least refresh the hardware to reflect the current market trends. I mean the last new Traktor hardware products were the S8, D2 which was about 3 - 4 years ago.

There's been two bug fixes in over a year. These should happen regularly, as and when bugs are reported. It's lazy development. The last update that added any real features was 18 months ago, the previous a year before that. This is fact.

We're still waiting on the "new avenue", that you and other mods opened up about, years ago. I'll take anything that isn't fact, with a serious dose of salt.

“feel free to bring a USB drive (ideally with a Pioneer rekordbox library on it)” ... interesting ...

I wish they had of been able to drop into Australia!

Need: Modern browser and library management

Don't need: Absolutely everything that's been added to Traktor in Pro 2.

A large part of the discussion was me complaining about the browser, I'm glad someone else has the same sentiment.

Colour coding was a step in the right direction, but not enough.

I said Serato's browser should be referred to, as it's got a much more effective browsing method.

Smart playlists has probably been in Itunes for over 10 years, and has been pretty much the most requested feature on this board since 2011. That's 7 years of ignorance. NI do not give a **** about what users think, if the requested feature can't generate extra sales. It's easy for product teams to conduct surveys, acting on them seems to be a problem at NI. I wouldn't be surprised if product teams have actively campaigned for some of these features, only for management to reject them in favour of shiny bells and whistles. If that culture doesn't change, then surveys are a complete waste of time.

I agree with your point about lack of action on insight, but with the fresh investment they've just received, I'm optimistic something will come out of this. There's a lot that can be improved, and I would love to see a 'final' version of TSP2 with all bugs fixed, before they brought out a Traktor 3.

I think Traktor 2 it's pretty rock solid as it is. NI really need to focus to code TP3 from the ground up. In with the new out with the old..

    +1000 gazillion.

    Oh... please no...!
Serato is equally far behind the times... just in different areas... to just name a few:
    - Serato has no ratings (which is & was the most requested " "feature" ", yet Serato ignores this since 2004)
    - Serato has no 'added to library' date
    - Serato has no 'show crate playlist' track is in
    - Serato has no m3u export (unless you play everything you want in the playlists, and f*n play it in sequence first, then, and only then can you export via history... this is still making me aggressive...)
And even more importantly for me, and since we have the year 2018
    - Serato has no multi value metadata support (i.e. to allow multiple genres, artists, fields, all of them sorting correctly into their respective genre...)
    - Serato has no custom frame metadata support (i.e. to allow users to maintain their own tags that make sense to their world. i.e. I have an 'Insturmental' field - which is great for Hiphop, Dancehall, Grime, and every other riddim/instrumental based music to quickly find versions and/or remixes of the same, i.e. all dozens/100s of SLeng Teng Version you might have - https://www.riddimguide.com/tunedb/riddim_Sleng Teng/...
I also maintain an 'Instruments' field (which can be populated via Discogs and/or Musicbrainz...), so I can find all tracks with a Clarinet, or Bongos, or whathaveyou with 1-2 clicks... and the list goes on, Mood, Situation, Language, etc pp. All facets that make finding the things you are after quickly, and/pr smart crates that much more powerful, yet the big 3, NI, RB & Serato, have been shying away from this for years, despite this being defined as a standard & used for 10+ years in many applications & industries....)

So no, please do NOT take Serato as a good example!

I really admire folks commitment to the once king of dj software but as chris b said

"The last update that added any real features was 18 months ago, the previous "A YEAR" before that. This is fact."

    the last controller was the s8 released in 2014 / s5 2015

the last traktor on the record questions and answers session was 2012

since 2014 there has been no official hint at a traktor 3 or a major overhaul of traktor 2 so why would there be, NI are telling the members on the machine forum what is goin on and what is to come. But not here, because IMO theres nothing coming. If there was they would say X controller is due and X software is around the corner to possibly stop the raft of traktor users jumping ship to RB and all its shiny and new controllers its just common sense.

and during all of this non activity from traktor since 2014 Pioneer has mutated into some sort of super alien version of usain bolt and steamed off over the horizon crushing anything in his path, 20+ controllers released, DMX lighting via controllers, Video added, DVS added, Kareoke, and regular updates often.

in respect of what i said above i would like to remind you it is now March 2018

Come on guys lets get real, you saw something on some website about investment money, Dam dont believe everything you see on the internet, Personally i dont think its true, theres a few on here trying to keep this ship afloat, probably while the last remaining stock of controllers is flogged to the unsuspecting.

If there was something/anything coming it would have been leaked on purpose, Even if just a snippet via social media to wet the appetite of whats left of the current user base and possible new customers. Karlos youve done a great job over the years but im afraid telling us great things are still to come has become laughable.

Would you release a new controller up against pioneer right now and what they have become?

Im asking you right now Karlos, You tell me what is coming nothing will happen to you i guarantee it. Leak something, say something, do something, ANYTHING!!

I say traktor is dead as a door nail, you prove me wrong with facts! GO?
